You know, I don't honestly think that much of Kobe's "will" or "drive" or "heart"... I think he's possibly the best shooter I've ever seen. He makes difficult shots so easily it almost looks like he's just getting lucky most of the time, but nobody gets lucky that often. And he's pretty good on his feet, moving to the basket. But I have nothing good to say beyond that. He's a spoiled brat who has never worked an honest day in his life (except for lots of basketball practice of course)
I'd make the deal, and I would have to take a cold shower afterwards. And scola would not be involved.
If Kobe has proved anything in his post-Shaq career, it's that he has no leadership skills. Nada. Zilth.
And everyone in Houston should lock up there daughters since we would have a sex offender moving into town.
No way, ever, would I consider adding an arrogant, self serving, self-aggrandizing, condescending, jerk as my main guy. Not if I'm the GM. Why do you suppose when he was seeking to get out of LA, when so many could have had him back then, they chose to not take the chance? The guy that was chosen in a major deal was Shaq. And he went out and got another ring. Kobe has serious insecurities, basic shallowness and is actually under acheiving. We've all thought maybe he'd learned to be the leader, but the minute he's frazzled, he resorts to who he really is. Honestly, I think T-Mac may have more real heart when it's all said and done... Remember, Kobe hasn't won any more titles than T-Mac without Shaq. It's similar in my eyes to Cowboys fans screaming how they are better than the Texans. Well, not in the last 12 years they're not... not really. Not in championships, or even playoff wins. Kobe has the same number of titles as the "leader" that T-Mac does. And that may not change. Ever. Why run the same experiment with Kobe that we already ran with Pippen? I'd pass every time. Give me a team of "team mentality" role players any day.
If it was me, I make that deal, then I turn right around and ship Kobe to a 3rd team for a superstar I respect and like to watch. The sex offender comment is out of line though.
i disagree, hes competitive, but don't confuse that with heart. Back in game 4 he gave up just like the rest, probably more than the rest. Farmar was the one trying to get these guys together back then. Kobe's problem is he think they can turn it on and off, that'd why they didnt worry after they lost game 1 or after they got blown out in game 4, now he's starting to get worried and it's eating him up. Even though he probably still believes they'll win in 7, he knows it's not just up to him, so he's worried guys won't show and Houston will steal one.
Why would you be surprised that no other team in the league really wants him? He tried to bail on L.A. Lakers back when... and even the CLIPPERS didn't want him. Come on, man. There IS a reason. He's not really aware of who he is.
Speaking of Shaq carrying Kobe's sorry ass, did anyone find that Nike muppets commercial with Kobe and Lebron ridiculous? I half expected Muppets Shaq to barge in and be like "those are mine, b****." But, of course... Nike doesn't have the cojones.
Exactly... Or at least put a big fat * up there. I do like the flashback NBA commercial that looks like it's about Kobe shaking Pippen... only to see Shaq dunk the oop! Haha... what a slap.
I respect your position as usual...but...he is a hall of famer, right? He won championships with a dominant big man, correct? And in terms of his arrogance don't you think that Adleman in Houston would be a MUCH better influence on him than PJ in LA? See: Ron Artest
