If it’s not a pick to get wimby or scoot then I’m calling teams to see what we could get. Trade down and pick up additional for next year or see if we can package it and go after established player. Have to see what happens after this weekend with Boston ect. Brown may be more available ♂️
#3 is Amen for my pick. He's electricity in human form. His shot is a question but nothing else is. Top of the line athleticism. Passing. Rebounding. Defense. Literally everything this team needs. Everyone on this team should benefit from the dimes he serves up and the pressure he takes off of the group to have a real point guard, so even if he can't shoot well, it would still improve the team's shooting. I mean if he shot 38% from 3 on good volume too? Why wouldn't he be 1st pick? We got damn lucky to snag Jabari at 3. We tanked for Wembanyama but Amen at 3 is also under the "damn lucky" category.
I don’t recall Giannis being a good shooter early. He was hard working, he was coachable and he was athletic with intangibles. I’m willing to gamble if this is where we pick.
Giannis is still a poor shooter. 27.5% this season and 28.7% from 3 for his career. Giannis Antetokounmpo Stats, Height, Weight, Position, Draft Status and more | Basketball-Reference.com Giannis makes Sengun's .333 look like Reggie Miller.
Don’t overthink it just take Amen and move KPJ to 6th man. You have to gamble for star potential at 3.
Just FYI, it's kinda hard to take you seriously when you post extreme, nonsensical takes like this. It's fine to be lower on a prospect than the overall consensus, it's fine to not like him very much, but come on. KJ Martin and Amen Thompson don't even play the same position, and KJ doesn't even have remotely near the burst, agility, full-court speed, ballhandling, court vision, or passing skills of Amen Thompson. Like, look... I'm kinda down on Brandon Miller, I think he's a bit overrated and I don't particularly want the Rockets to pick him unless he falls to at least #4, if not later--but you don't hear me running around going "that guy sucks" about a consensus top 5 prospect. I can recognize his length, his excellent shooting, pretty good playmaking from his position. If he drops far enough it makes sense for the Rockets to take him, even from my perspective. You don't hear me going around saying "HE SUCKS" and dropping weird, outlandish comparisons.
Trading down isn't really an NBA thing because one player no matter the position can change your team's fortune overnight. In the NFL, sure, you trade down, try to get more bodies because the more you can raise the floor of your team the better. In the NBA you have to raise the ceiling of your team and trading down to get a more middling average prospect ain't it. So what usually happens isn't trade downs but outright trades for already established players. If you get #3 you just draft the best player you think might be able to become a star.
I’m okay with the 3rd pick. I’d rather a top 2 pick but if we end up picking 3 we are very lucky; Amen Thompson, Miller and Scoot would all be in play for that #3 pick. They are all good prospects. In fact, I like the top 6 or 7 prospects in this draft, so trading back isn’t a terrible idea as I see it. But at 3 with Thompson or Scoot there, I think we’d have to make that pick. that would be #2, #3, #3 the last three years. Defying the odds!
Say the Rockets get 1st pick and Orlando offered you Banchero / Suggs plus /7&11 and 2024/25 first rounders Would you do it?
If you believe in Green and Smith as far as the 3 ball (which iI believe both will shoot over 35%)….. Claxton (as examples) Smith KPJ Green Amen If Thompson can be a elite defender then Green and KPJ just have the 2nd or 3rd perimeter options to guard. Smith and Claxton will provide good backup behind them.
No. I think only guys like Luka, Giannis, etc., would be the only way you can consider a deal, and even then, I think the answer is no.
Wemby is a freak so far but I’m scared of his health. You have to take him at 1 but I kinda low key would rather have #2 pick
Hope that Orlando falls in love with Miller. Then trade #3 for #7 and #11. Personally, I would. If you pick at #1, I think you have to take VW, but I worry about his durability. There are a lot more Kristaps Porzingis's than Kevin Garnetts. And just think where that kind of haul could put this team. PG - Anthony Black (#7)/ Suggs SG - Green/KPJ SF - Jabari/Tari PF - Banchero/ Taylor Hendricks (#11) C- Sengun/Garuba You still have KJM, Tate, Garuba, JC and #20 (not to mention BKN picks) to work trades with. And without looking at the salaries, I would assume you still have $45-50M to add free agents that would likely supplant one or more of the above 10-man rotation. While I'm kind of over him, imagine adding Harden to that lineup. I don't think Harden is coming here, so if you had the above lineup (or once you had that trade in place), I would try trading #20, Tari, KJM, and 2024 FRP for Andrew Wiggins. Then sign Fred VanVleet at $30M. PG - FVV/Anthony Black (#7) SG - Green/KPJ SF - Wiggins/Jabari PF - Banchero/ Taylor Hendricks (#11) C- Sengun/Garuba That second unit might be better than the team we started last year. I just like the possibilities it would open up rather than praying for Victor... to stay healthy.
