http://mavsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2010/09/novak-to-join-mavs-camp.html Steve Novak, a 6-10 forward who has been in the NBA the last four seasons, will be joining the Mavericks as a training camp invitee. Novak was the 32nd overall pick in the 2006 draft by Houston. He played two seasons with the Rockets and has been with the Los Angeles Clippers the last two seasons. The former Marquette standout averaged 6.9 points in 2008-09, when he knocked in 41 percent of his 3-point shots. The 27-year-old played just 54 games for the Clippers last season. The Mavericks are looking for a backup to Dirk Nowitzki who plays a similar style, which Novak does. --Eddie Sefko What a tragedy -- Steve "Threefer" Novak -- playing for the Mavs. He is only an invitee but, considering his shooting ability, I'd hate to see him shooting against us, although a shootout between Novak and Budinger might be a lot of fun!
Yeah, that would be a really good way to get the crowd pumped up before the game. That's the only time Novak really steps on the court, right?
HE'S ENTERING HIS PRIME, WATCH OUT SOON HE'LL BE SHOOTING 90% FROM THREE POINT, 100% FROM THE LINE, AND HOLDING OPPONENTS TO THEIR CAREER BEST FIELD GOAL PERCENTAGE
7 mpg of danger unleashed. One of the rare 6-10 guys you can find that averages 4 rebounds per 40. Evan
As I have said before, Chase is a huge upgrade over Steve. However, Novak's last second shot in the middle of the 22-win streak will live forever. Unlike Budinger, Novak can't do much else but shoot, but, wow, give him credit for a fast, gorgeous release.
meh Novak's a great shooter...and thats it. He never really seemed to know whats going on and couldn't defend worth anything. Nice guy to have to shoot it out though.

He's Dirk's only backup. No offense to Novak fans but that's not good. He more of a 10th man off the bench and 3 pt specialist not your primary PF backup.
I recall the Rockets choked away a 15 pt lead with Novak on the floor, thus making the shot necessary for a win.
