Agree totally. She is really beautiful, but imagine your life is no longer your own and ever pervert on the internet is wacking off to a picture of you. Now, imagine it's your daughter or your mother or your wife or your sister.

The internet can be pretty disgusting at times.

Matt's a good guy, and he has a job to do -- he's asked to be snarky about sports and post pictures of hotties on his site (hosted by the WWTDD people). He's one of the few bloggers getting paid to do this. If he didn't post the photo, other sites would have. In fact, dozens of others already had. WaPo shouldn't be coming down on him. It's like focusing on one single celebrity blog for the Britney Spears (or whatever famous woman) upskirt photos.

 

OMFG. She's like Paris Hilton. Except w/ a body. And talent. And hot. And educated (I doubt Paris did much to get a diploma). Ok, she's nothing like Paris.

I've never understood this argument. I know my mom and my sister and my ex-wife have had sex. If someone would want to fantasize about them, so be it.

Now, if someone was being incredibly harrassed or raped, I can see the point, but I'd hope we'd try to help any girl in that situation.

 

But doesn't sites like Myspace have the same effect?

 

She's beautiful, but not really that big a deal to be an internet sensation.

That first picture is like the perfect storm of ingredients for a hot pic. Everything from the distance, the angle, etc. adds up to a great picture. In the other pics she's just another cute highschool girl. When she's competing, she's a total hardbody though.

I feel bad for her, but her dad lawyering up and the Wapo doing a cover story just increases the interest exponentially

 

All chicks can look hot in certain angles. That first pic is misleading, it's mor of a myspace angle, her other pics reveal she isn't all that.

In the case of your mom or whomever choosing to have sex or to put their pictures up on MySpace, THEY control that choice. They make the decision to place themselves in the position of being seen by others in a sexual way.

To take the Myspace reference, you can set your profile to private and only display one photo. If you do this and it is a simple photo of your face, chances are you won't end up on blogs all over the internet.

In this case, it is a girl who was competing in a track competition wearing the required uniform and was photographed by a journalist for a news story. That image was then taken by others across the net and her name, school and information were published to anyone who wanted to see it.

She never asked for the attention. In fact, she doesn't WANT the attention. She has been placed in the position of being a sex object to thousands of people who now know where she lives, where she goes to school and the fact that she competes in a relatively minor sport making it fairly easy to find her competitions.

She's become stalker bait and she did nothing to put herself in that position. It was done without her consent.

It's one thing if your Tila Tequila. Hell, if you are a woman and put pictures of yourself on the internet in a bathing suit - on Flickr, for example - despite not deserving negative attention, it was YOUR choice to place yourself in this position.

I feel sorry for this girl because she had ZERO interest in any of this attention and now she and her family have to be concerned for her safety and her privacy has been compromised all because guys on the internet have decided to objectify her for their own pleasure.

That's what I mean by imagining if it were a loved one in this position. Imagine if someone took private photos of your sister, published them on the internet and when she went out, guys recognized her as a result. It is a distinct possibility that she is at greater risk of assault or, at the very least, inconvenience and embarassment because of some internet nerds' deviant fantasies.

That should be a concern for anyone.

 

Yeah, but she's still hot.
