If anything giving him the full MLE is THAT much easier to swallow now.

As has been pointed out ad nauseum... Landry still holds great value for this team.

Say bye bye to Clutch the bear! Ron will go into the stands and punch people in the face instead of using girly cakes and silly string.

Why do people think Artest solves our problem at the 4?

    FAIL

It's possible Artest may be here for only a year. All these moves need to keep the next 2-3 years in mind, not just tomorrow.

I still don't think we need to give him anywhere near full MLE but this does give the Rockets that much more leverage.

I bet Landry is dying to sign with us now that we made this move.

Yikes. My bad peps. I didn't really think this one through. A man admits when he's wrong. Kinda feeling like Brooksball probably did after the Rockets rolled off 22 straight. :D

Upon further thinking and not getting swept up in the emotion of this awesome trade, I was merely thinking about who is gone off the roster. A bit of a rush to just throw Landry to the wolves but in thinking about Dorsey/Hayes/Novak/Deke/Harris, somebody obviously has to go...

that would have made a better topic I suppose lol

IDK Les has been willing to pay for top players. He's already mentioned he would take on the luxury tax for the right player.

    Laundry who?

Sorry with all the knee injuries and the fact that he relies so much on athelticiscm if he can't be have for cheap, no use for spending a large part on our MLE for something a tad better than Hayes. and don;t we have that guy Dorsey as well?

    With Artest, Laundry is expendable . . . . .

Don't try to pull me under the bus with you. You're on your own here. ;)

I kid. Yes, I felt foolish but I was much happier to see the streak and the Rockets making the playoffs.

I know these guys make a ton of money but if I was Landry and saw the team that the Rockets were assembling I would fire Baker and call Morey and say " Hey Give me what you can cause Ron-Rons in town !! "

Yes, that's entirely possible. But I think there's so many possibilities in the next year - injury, chemistry issues, better opportunities arise, etc. that it's too soon to act like he's here for the long term. I think that's partially the appeal of signing him. It's a low risk, high return because it's only a year. If we had to sign him long term, management may get a little nervous about committing to a head case who may want to leave 3 months into the season. At least we get a year to see if everyone can get along.

Why should the Rockets not pursue Landry any more. They're still smalll up front. Landry will add depth to the team and can backup Yao and Scola.

I get you, there are so many variables in the season It's hard to say, but on paper(Wich is the only way we can really get a feel for this team now) It's a perfect fit, IF Ron doesn't go Tru warrior on us. Basically you're losing nothig on the defensive end and getting a + scoring threat. I really hope it all works out and we have a healthy season.
