They should produce cars without using petroleum then.

I think with Iran oil coming into the market, I think Houston is in trouble. If you want to buy a house wait a few months.

    Burn.

They should also make a model that is actually affordable for the masses.

I'll be back to this thread when that happens

They have open sourced their tech.. patents are free to be used by any car co.

So oil ppl can say "oh well this isn't quite there yet in parameters x y or z" and you may be right for the time being but transformative tech that changes an age old paradigm just won't go away. It only gets better bc it offers increased utility to those that adopt it

Just curious - how do they produce the electricity to charge electric cars?

Coal, nat gas, wind, solar, geothermal (wind and solar becoming more viable due to exponentially dropping li ion batteries)

    Not oil

Probably in a year or so. There will be a lag effect of people losing their jobs and then deciding to move out of Houston.

Last time I was in town, I drove around somewhat close to the Energy Corridor area (Wilcrest/I-10) and saw all this new apartment construction. I have no idea who is going into move in all those new units, especially since starting rents for those are north of 1500 USD per month.

Woes in production mean cheers in chemicals, midstream is good on volume. Infrastructure is still expanding too.

It ain't the end of the world for Houston.

We've been adding 1 million per decade since 1990, that's over 100K per month regardless of boom or bust or economy. Rents and housing will undergo a correction, however, we are undergoing an institutional boom. Those apartments won't go empty for too long.

does opening the markets to iranian oil also open the oil fields to foreign companies or is the market completely government controlled over there?
