This is normal for them. They had the Heat game and remember the numerous dummy mistakes they made? Two times with 7 point leads and the game seemingly wrapped up? Jazz are just not a good road team and those 6 games are going to be huge otherwise they are looking at a first round matchup against the Spurs or Lakers.
I'm curious how the Suns/Blazers game goes Thursday night. It's a back-to-back for the Suns and I'm wondering about the emotional state of the Blazers after that tough loss on Monday.
The difference between this game and last night's game is that Phoenix finishes fast breaks. If the Rockets finishes their fast breaks, they have chance to win also. Of course having someone that can create at the end doesn't hurt the Suns too.
If the Jazz finish in 8th place to face the Lakers (or somehow miss the playoffs), they can point back to blowing the Heat game in regulation, which guaranteed their loss the next day in Orlando.
I'll take the Blazers for sure at home. I think the kids will be eager to make up for that game. At least 2 of the 3 old guys on the Suns will likely underperform tomorrow.
Many of those were more than typical fastbreaks in the 4th quarter. They had 3 or 4 wide open dunks because the Jazz weren't getting back at all.
And Von Wafer's lack of intelligence on what he is capable of doing on fast breaks killed the Rockets. Wafer plays like an overconfident rookie sometimes.
i think spurs might be the #2 seed even though we flirted with it. that leaves us the 3rd or 4th spot. we need jazz to drop off to 7 and stay the hell away from us. it's not enough about beating the jazz anymore..it's just i want to see the rockets play someone else for a change and possibly get to round 2.. it's been too long since a playoff series victory.
Yeah, the Suns were in a zone and whenever there was a missed shot for the Jazz a Suns player would leak out way ahead for a snowbird. Jazz were caught napping a few times.
He was particularly bad last game, not that he hasn't done that several times before. On a couple plays, I saw him put his head down before he got over half court with no teammates along side him and 3 or 4 Jazz waiting at the other end. Brooks has that problem too but not nearly as bad as Wafer. Of course, Wafer has the physical tools to finish quite a bit, too. It's just a matter of him not picking his spots wisely. I've definitely seen some small steps in the right direction with Wafer's decision-making in recent weeks. Only time will tell if he ever "gets it" enough to stick in this league. I think there is a chance.
If were going for a championship (which everyone playoff team is regardless of the expectations, which ours aren't that high) we want to feel that we can beat anyone...and if we play the jazz again, so be it.....IF WE BEAT THEM, u know how much confidence that gives us going into the next round..that gets the monkey off their back....i would love to see the rockets beat the jazz and i still believe we can in a series and i have a feeling with the way things end up, we will probably end up with playing the jazz in the playoffs
Yep, they have a tough schedule ahead them not only with road games against good teams but I think they have 4 more b2bs left to play Idk against who but those are never easy.
Of course with the loss tonight, we are currently matched up with them again. The basketball gods need to stop this charade!
I don't want to start a t-mac thread, but that's why I would never trust a team doctor. They are looking out for the team. They told grant hill he could play even though his ankle was broke. It robbed a top 5 player at the time his prime.
Von Wafer is one of those Jekyll and Hyde players. He teases you with good performances at times then reverts back to his stupid ways. Basketball intelligence doesn't come naturally to him and it takes a conscious effort to keep coaching on his mistakes for him to learn. Keep in mind he's going for a contract; he's looking to pad his stats and wants playing time as much as possible.
Amare is a black hole offensively and clueless defensively, especially on rotations. It was an oxymoron for the Suns to be successful with him alongside Shaq. This team looks a lot more impressive when Nash quietly distributes the ball and Shaq is standing under the rim altering shots. With their schedule and Grant Hill getting into a groove I wouldn't be surprised to see them grab the 8th spot and have the Jazz drop out of the playoffs. Or so I hope.
Lets see, richrdson, hill,or barnes on the break oor artest, battier, and barry. It speaks more to what the rox don't have more than nash outclassing brooks.
i think at this point for the rockets, it's better for them to focus on winning A playoff series than proving they can beat anyone. so instead of this all of nothing attitude and playing a tough opponent to begin with..it's better for them to prove they can accomplish a task like winning a series. beating the jazz and moving to round 2 would be amazing..but what if we lose again. then what..hear the media talk about rockets not getting out of the 1st round in a gazillion years.. actually today's utah loss didn't change anything. they were #6 yesterday. what we need is portland to win tomm so you can start dropping to 7 or below.
Let's see...a team in 3rd spot in the West and have a chance for the 2nd or a team in 9th currently out of the playoff picture...
