If you haven't watched her resignation speech, watch it NOW. This woman could have been VP. She could have been president. And she is now without dispute the dumbest and craziest politician in our country today (Michelle Bachman, eat your heart out). And her stuff on Trig made her (and basso) look especially idiotic, not to mention opportunistic. Actually, I'm not sure there is a "greater sin" than using your disabled child to score political points. But leaving out the incredibly bizarre text of the speech, the delivery was even more astounding. Is she having a manic break? Or did she duck out of a high speed chase to give that speech right quick before rejoining her run from the law? You have to see this to believe it. She is hyperventilating. Having seen the speech she's either resigning to outpace some really nasty news that's about to drop or she's getting ready to check herself into a rubber room. Nothing else explains this extraordinarily bizarre behavior. If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. If a politician can't handle the media, how are they going to handle Russia??? Being able to see it's coastline isn't enough TJ. I mean, if a comedian can make you resign, you aren't a leader, you're a joke. That's what Sarah Palin was - a joke, Even her own party hated her. She was the final embarrassment to the GOP and one of the final nails in the coffin to making America wake up and realize the GOP really has gone downhill. But you should be thankful for her, because GOP'ers like her and Bush may have the ironic impact of splitting the party into a more moderate party and it's right wing component. And if that happens, the more moderate wing of the party can begin anew and try to become a positive force again.
I'm very disappointed by this. There has been no greater ally to the Democratic party, maybe in history.

I am curious how CBS got their hands on Palin's internal memos verbatim. Were there more of them still to come? Did McCain's campaign manager Schmidt roll over completely?

I think she's literally talking about the state money that goes to investigate her many ethics probes; other articles have put the figure in the hundreds of thousands. Although, if she maintains her claims to innocence, resigning isn't traditionally the best defense. I don't remember Bill Clinton giving three weeks' notice when the spurious charges of Travelgate broke. Choice TPM snark:

Bill Kristol, a Palin supporter and all-around whack-job, said today that people have been bemoaning the fact that there's no national GOP leader and that this move means that she can be that leader. Oh, please please please please please please please let it be so!
Clearly, something is up and will come out, letting us all in on the real reason she did this. I watched the speech live (was at a friend's place that had the tube on a cable news channel), and the word that best describes it is bizarre. The best take I heard immediately afterwards was on CNN from Republican strategist, Ed Rollins. If anyone can find it on YouTube, please post it, because he simply eviscerates her. In 5 minutes, he cuts her up into little pieces and spits her out. I was like, wow! And as Batman pointed out, she was hyperventilating, big time. I thought she'd either pass out in a moment, or start spinning like a top, her arms held out, chanting, "la, la, la, la, la, la!" Bizarre!
It's just bizarre. I mean, I watched that video and was just speechless. This is the governor of a state???? It is embarrassing to watch as an American. I hope the world does not get to watch it.
CNN version: nearly the entire 7 minutes Fox version: 1 minute. LOL. I almost feel sorry for her in this. She really seemed upset and was less coherent and more repetitive than usual. The WaPo article seems to write her off for the national election, but who knows? Three years is a long long time (in modern political life.)

Wow, this is the pride of the GOP? She sounds like a dorky high school freshman running for class president. I'm surprised there haven't been any conservatives ranking on her about having to basically stare at the teleprompter to give her speech...oh wait...she's not Obama, it's okay.
Nice find, but that's not it. Sounds like he's on a phone, and he was in the studio for the segment I heard. Also, he just tore into her, and this isn't like that at all. Keep looking!
