    If she runs, Palin won't win the GOP nomination, and if liberals stopped obsessing over her, she'd quickly fade into history.

    Yes "liberals" explain why people keep showing up to her events and why people keep paying her to speak. I suppose "liberals" were the ones buying her book too.

    Give it a rest, she clearly has found a niche market for her nonsense and they keep eating it up. Case in point - Basso's obsession with her. And there are plenty of Basso's in this country who are stupid enough to think she would be a great president.

    HUGE leap, and MASSIVE difference between the theory or nature and God. Many athiests would believe in the idea of "nature" or natural... the concept of God is different. Furthermore, it is all a compromise anyway, many if not most believed in a God, or if not, then in an order to things.... but not all, and they did not all define it the same way... many had serious concern.

    I don't think this is an issue of what atheists now, or then believe, but what did the Founders believe. The Declaration of Independence pretty clearly state that rights are derived from a divinity.

    In that case MadMax is absolutely correct. I would say though to expand this to the specific rights as laid out in the Bill of Rights is an open question as there was much debate about the particular wording of those rights and while in general they felt that all men, provided they were white, were granted rights it was up to them to define what they were.

    DofI is not the Bill of Rights.

    The Declaration of Independence was written under revolutionary context, and reinforcing that the right to revolt as a divine was a primary purpose. I don't think it's fair to extrapolate Jefferson's assertion of divinely enabled self-determinism to mean that God gave us all the right to bear arms. Jefferson wasn't even at the Convention.

    Seems to me like politics used to perfect history, not the inverse we prefer. Not rebutting your post RJ, or MadMax, just making a distinction.

    A letter that doesn't match the context or meaning Sarah Palin was trying to convey in her words.

    It's amazing that people will actually trying and defend this woman who is so utterly clueless and shows her ignorance time and time again, only to have supporters who must either be equally as ignorant or believe ignorance is a good thing try and defend her.

    Maybe you and basso can apply for a job in the Department of law and work for the whitehouse.

    You'd think so, but there are people there who support her despite instance after instance of her showing what an ignorant know-nothing she is. She's had access to some of the best in the game, and still hasn't learned even the basics.

    I'll always pay attention because she's hilarious. And it's hilarious to see people try and make excuses for how lazy and ignorant she is.

    Exactly, there's a point where you're trying to argue that the sky is blue when someone is trying to convince you it's red. You can argue the tree's all you want, but it's the forest you have to look at. I guess you can say Palin knew what she was talking about, if you really really really really really really deep down in your soul believe she's a hidden scholar. In which case, fine. But I suspect many people are just arguing the pedantic(family guy word) for the sake of not wanting to lose. She is what she is, simple as that.
