People need to take the "fan" out of it and look real close. SAR isnt a ball hog and is a very profeccient scorer. For once he has a chance to solidify himself as a top notch player and will be willing to do anything they ask. He's a great lockeroom guy and you want see him just launching up 20 ft jumpers. He and Bibby played together in Vancuver and I'm sure that had to do with it. Many people on this board talked Francis over Bibby because they never saw him down in Vancuver. The same will talk Swift over SAR. This signing by the Kings put them back in the thick of everything with everyone in the West. They still need to prove they can defend, but overrall this team won almost 50 games last yr despite trading Webber in mid season and Miller missing alot of time. They now add a versitile 4 and many on this board think they're fighting for a playoff spot? I would put their starting 5 against anyones including ours. This was a great signing for Sacramento.
Because Bibby and SAR in Vancouver won 22, 8, and 23 games? The Kings have a lot of paper talent, but they're going nowhere in the playoffs. They lack defense, an interior presence, and any semblance of frontcourt athleticism.
SAR has never been a winner. He has yet to help any team he has played for. Why does everyone think that this automatically helps the Kings. 20ppg and 9rpg isn't as impressive when you consider the teams he was playing for. The Grizzlies have shown dramatic improvement since he left. The Hawks thought he was so good they refunded a portion of money to season ticket holders when they made a promise of playoffs or refund. The Hawks over-rated him like many of you are doing. Maybe SAR will be able to turn things around this year, but that depends a lot on Bibby and Peja, who remain their 1, 2 punch.
Exactly. That's what I see as well. They have a nice videogame lineup. But I am not convinced on the Bibby/Wells/Peja/SAR scoring quartet. Who is going to take the lead there? That can be a problem. Not to mention where is the defense? Brad Miller is a nice lunch pail guy but that's all they have. And just like NIKE said, their lack of athleticism in the front court could be a problem. It's possible the Kings could be this year's "Suns" and they may end up winning alot of games, but come playoff time I think they will bog down. The Kings have nice assets though. You have to give them that. At least they have players they can move to tweak the roster. And I think it needs tweaking.
Kings will have a solid offensive team that'll nab a 6 seed or so, but they won't last long in the playoffs w/o any real defenders or a go-to guy that can be counted on for a bucket at the end of a close game, no matter the defense. Duncan can get you a clutch bucket or go to the line no matter who he faces at the end of a game. Ditto for McGrady, Kobe, Wade, etc. Peja? Nope. Bibby? SAR? Wells? Uh-uh. Evan
As I asked in another thread, who will finish ahead of the Kings in the Pacific division? They are built for a very good regular season and a flame out in the playoffs. I agree about their defense, but Bibby is a very good clutch player when he's not worn out from being asked to do too much. With the other gifted offensive players on their team, I expect Bibby to have a very efficient year with several clutch baskets.
No they are not. It is you cannot understand the business principle Thon was operating with. SAR would be silly to not understand where the Nets were coming from. Anyone who does not understand their standpoint in my humble seeing things from a very shallow point. The scar tissue, even though it had not been problematic before now, could at anytime turn arthritic [sp] at any point. I would not want to hire anyone who would not do business prudently like that especially considering Nets recent history with folks like Kittles and the like. The altered deal the Nets later offered is no different from what SAR received now from SacTown. But for ego reasons, he chose to go a different direction. I can live with that but the Nets should be blamed. All deals are complete pending a complete physical examination. Thon dealt fairly.
Yep! Also, I don't like that Bibby disappointed me during last year's playoffs, he kinda fell on his face when given the opportunity to be the man. He has a similar challenge ahead of him right now, really for the first time in his career the success of his team will be on his shoulders. Don't like that Rick Adelman is in the last year of his contract, the success rates of coaches in their last years of their contracts is pathetic. Don't like that there will be competition at the PF position, no Webber to Songaila drop off, now it's Rahim to Kenny, why should Kenny think he's not as good as him? Kenny's best numbers are similar to Rahim's, plus he's not as old and he's been a part of winning teams. Then they have to worry about the improvements of the Clippers, Warriors, and Lakers... The Kings run is over it started when Vlade left, continued with the Webber trade, and will probably end with Adelman and Peja leaving during or after this season.
