Houston trades: Maurice Taylor (11.5 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.4 apg in 27.8 min) Eric Piatkowski (4.1 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 0.5 apg in 14.3 min) TE Houston receives: Antonio Daniels (8.0 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 4.2 apg in 21.3 min) Shareef Abdur-Rahim (16.3 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 2.0 apg in 31.6 min) New Jersey trades: Kerry Kittles (13.1 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 2.5 apg in 34.7 minutes) New Jersey receives: Maurice Taylor (11.5 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.4 apg in 75 games) Seattle trades: Jerome James (5.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 0.5 apg in 15.2 minutes) Antonio Daniels (8.0 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 4.2 apg in 21.3 minutes) Seattle receives: TE) SF Eric Piatkowski (4.1 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 0.5 apg in 49 games) Portland trades: Shareef Abdur-Rahim (16.3 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 2.0 apg in 31.6 min) Portland receives: Kerry Kittles (13.1 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 2.5 apg in 82 games) Jerome James (5.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 0.5 apg in 65 games) TRADE ACCEPTED This trade would be contingent upon SAR to play 3/4 spot for the Rockets. Rockets can resign him to a reasonable contract next summer or save 15 million in the salary. Portland gets depth at SG and center position with expiring conracts. Seattle move some unwanted contracts and get cap space. NJ gets a servicible PF. Everybody happy. CHEERS !!!!!!!!!! Yao/FA J Howard/SAR/Spoon SAR/B. Nachbar/ JJ T Mac/JJ A. Daniels/Lue/Gaines Go Rock
SAR can have the starting 4 spot. Howard can backup both 4 and 5. Very nice. Can we have Vladimir Stepania also from Portland, to back up Yao? Yao/Howard SAR/Howard JJ/Boki Tmac/JJ/AG Daniels/Lue/Gaines Pretty nice. 8 man rotation, pretty much.
If you havent noticed New Jersey is in a cost cutting mode so they would never take MoT and his contract.
Not sure the Sonics would do it anymore. They just dealt Booth, meaning they have Potapenko, James and Swift. They can't rely much on Swift because he's still a highschooler, so they won't go with just one other C. As for New Jersey, they would look really stupid if they did this. In theory, it would be great for them. However, when you look at the contracts and the fact that they didn't pay Martin the MAX and now they pay MoT 8M? MoT may be valuable to many teams, btu New Jersey are one of the teams that's not willing to pay. They're trying to slash salary. The Celtics MAY be a nice destination for MoT and they have some expiring contracts. I would try and work something out with them if I were CD.
Portland would've done the Kittles + Aaron Williams trade if they wanted Kittles... but apparently they're not interested
I love how in these dreamcasts the Rockets always get two all-star type players and all they lose are either bloated contracts or old bad knees ballers. Besides we really don't need SAR. We need a pass first PG. We are fine in the forward position.
Kittles to Portland is DEAD because the Blazers signed Hassell. Portland would not do this deal beacause of this. Other than that, I like it.
Mo T will make 26 M in three yrs as compared to K.Martin which would have cost them 90+Million over6/7 yrs. NJ really needs a servicable PF to be competetive and gets fans to the ball games and servicible power forwards are difficult to find cheap. Seattle would also become thin in the middle after trading J Jomes, but then they can use the TE to sign Mihm/Keyon Clark or use it as they wish. They are trying to retool and TE would be handy.
True, I remember now! Here's hoping that you are right again! If nothing else, I think this trade is really well thought out.
The point is not to accomodate NJ or Seattle but to get decent Players like SAR and A. Daniels for MO T and TE for expiring/reasonable contracts. SAR is more versatile than MO T and A. Daniel is a good fit for the Rockets. If Portland wants some other trading partner to take Mo T (like Boston), so be it.
What trade exception? They wouldn't receive one in this proposed deal. You only get a TE if you are trading away a single player and taking back less salary. Since you have them trading away James and Daniels, then no trade exception. You do also realize that the Rockets could only use $2.2M of our trade exception in your proposed deal? They could cover Daniels salary and nothing more.
Okay, your trade made me get a bit creative . Houston trades: PF Maurice Taylor (11.5 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.4 apg in 27.8 minutes) SF Clarence Weatherspoon (5.0 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 0.6 apg in 16.7 minutes) SG Adrian Griffin (0.6 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 0.5 apg in 7.0 minutes) Houston receives: PF Shareef Abdur-Rahim (16.3 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 2.0 apg in 31.6 minutes) PG Antonio Daniels (8.0 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 4.2 apg in 21.3 minutes) Change in team outlook: +7.2 ppg, -0.5 rpg, and +3.7 apg. Portland trades: PF Shareef Abdur-Rahim (16.3 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 2.0 apg in 31.6 minutes) Portland receives: PF Reggie Evans (2.9 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 0.4 apg in 75 games) C Jerome James (5.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 0.5 apg in 65 games) SF Ricky Davis (14.4 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 3.3 apg in 79 games) Change in team outlook: +6.0 ppg, +5.9 rpg, and +2.2 apg. Seattle trades: PF Reggie Evans (2.9 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 0.4 apg in 17.1 minutes) C Jerome James (5.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 0.5 apg in 15.2 minutes) PG Antonio Daniels (8.0 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 4.2 apg in 21.3 minutes) Seattle receives: C Raef LaFrentz (7.8 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 1.4 apg in 17 games) Change in team outlook: -8.1 ppg, -6.2 rpg, and -3.7 apg. Boston trades: C Raef LaFrentz (7.8 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 1.4 apg in 19.3 minutes) SF Ricky Davis (14.4 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 3.3 apg in 31.3 minutes) Boston receives: PF Maurice Taylor (11.5 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.4 apg in 75 games) SF Clarence Weatherspoon (5.0 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 0.6 apg in 52 games) SG Adrian Griffin (0.6 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 0.5 apg in 19 games) Change in team outlook: -5.1 ppg, +0.8 rpg, and -2.2 apg. TRADE ACCEPTED Due to Houston, Portland, Seattle and Boston being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Houston, Portland, Seattle and Boston had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Why Houston does it: 1) Get rid of bad contracts 2) Get two great players who cover needs. No more comment needed. Why Portland does it: 1) They get rid of a disgruntled player who demanded a trade. 2) They get a quality player with a somewhat decent contract back in Ricky Davis - who would probably also fit right in character-wise on that team. Why Seattle does it: 1) They have no good big men. Even though LaFrentz has been getting a lot of criticism, he has size and does block a lot of shots (when he was with Denver, his stats were actually very good). In any case, he is better than anything they have right now. 2) They don't really trade away any quality players except Daniels, who they apparently want to get rid of for some reason. 3) They did similar stuff in the past...they took on Vin Baker's contract, just because they really wanted a decent big man. I'd venture to say that LaFrentz is better now than Baker. Why Boston does it: 1) They get rid of LaFrentz' big contract. 2) They get rid of a bad character guy in Ricky Davis who really doesn't seem to be a good match with their main guy, Paul Pierce (they basically play the same positions). 3) They get a pretty good power forward in Mo Taylor, who should be better for them than LaFrentz (except shot-blocking), and, most importantly, the three contracts they get from the Rockets run out much sooner than LaFrentz' contract would have. EVERYBODY HAPPY! LET'S DO IT
If you were Seattle, would YOU really do this??? Everything else looks good except from Seattle's standpoint. They trade away Jerome James (who might be better than an injured LaFrentz) and his expiring contract, their promising workhorse in Reggie Evans and a talented but somewhat disappoiting guard in Daniels all for an injury prone player with a contract that runs through the end of the decade???
