Whoever has Brown may find this interesting.... http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news/ap/20020413/ap-dodgers-browninjured.html Brown leaves with injury in second inning April 13, 2002 SAN DIEGO (AP) -- Los Angeles pitcher Kevin Brown left the Dodgers' game in the second inning Saturday night against San Diego with an undetermined injury. Brown threw a 93 mph fastball to Tom Lampkin when the injury occurred. Almost as soon as Brown released the ball, he hopped once and held his right arm at his side. The Dodgers did not immediately announce what the injury was. Brown, 37, underwent surgery to repair a torn flexor muscle in his right elbow on Sept. 27. Brown, who was making the 401st career start of his 15-year career, was on the disabled list three times last year.
And the first big blockbuster trade had been completed. The H-Town Playas send Jason Kendall, Luis Rivas, Carlos Guillen, Hideo Nomo and Troy Percival to the League City Skulls for Toby Hall, Marlon Anderson, Juan Uribe and Adam Dunn. I hated giving up Uribe and Dunn, but I needed pitching. Kendall for Hall is a wash and Rivas for Anderson is a swap of backup 2nd basemen. If Guillen can continue to put up decent numbers then the loss of Uribe is covered. If he doesn't, I can still put McLemore at short. BUT... I get another proven starter, and the second closer I've been lacking once Percival returns, slated for April 19th. Any thoughts?
Good deal behad.... I really wanted toby hall and uribe for a long time... Adam Dunn hopefully will pick things up and we will see what happens.....
Well, as I see it, I get better at C, 2b, ss, and outfield. If that takes giving up a good releiver, then I think anyone would do it.
You guys check out the new, re-vamped Skulls. C Jason Kendall, Pit 21/1.5 Mitch Meluskey, Det 42/1.5 1B Sean Casey, Cin 13/2.7 Todd Helton, Col 16/2.0 2B Fernando Vina, StL 3/3.4 Junior Spivey, Ari 3/2.9 3B Jeff Cirillo, Sea 12/2.2 SS Carlos Guillen, Sea 4/3.8 OF Ellis Burks, Cle 9/4.5 Lance Berkman, Hou 12/4.2 Cliff Floyd, Fla 17/3.8 Melvin Mora, Bal 17/3.8 Chuck Knoblauch, KC 25/3.9 Mark Mclemore, Sea 30/3.4 SP Jamie Moyer, Sea 41/15.0 Paul Wilson, TB 44/21.5 Shane Reynolds, Hou 54/12.0 Hideo Nomo, LA 59/11.0 Roger Clemens, NYY 81/9.0 Rick Reed, Min 93/12.0 John Burkett, Bos 167/0.0 Chan Ho Park, Tex 268/-1.0 RP Shigetoshi Hasegawa, Sea 16/8.5 Robb Nen, SF 18/12.0 Troy Percival, Ana 95/11.0 Kendall, McLemore, and Mora can all play infield or outfield. All my regulars are scoring 3.4 or better except Helton, who is coming on strong, and Kendall. I think I now have the pitching I need in Clemens, Nomo, Moyer, Reynolds, and Wilson, with Park and Burkett yet to play. Closers Percival and Nen are two of the best. It's time to sit back and see what these guys can do.
My starting pitching is getting me through. Especially pleased considering that Kevin Brown has only gotten two starts before going down. Anyhow, my hole at 2B is eventually going to catch up with me. Looking to upgrade there if anybody is interested in trading.
By the way. I will trade any one of my three relievers in a package deal to get a strong 3b (like Chavez or Chipper) or a strong OF. Most likely willing to deal... RP-Rivera (10.0) RP-Koch (9.9) RP- Williams (11.4) 1b - Sexson (2.7) 1b - Simon (3.8) SP- Davis (17.4) 3B- Ventura (2.6) OF- Green (2.0) for a Strong OF or 3B
What a great win over fadeaway this will turn out to be, if my lead holds. I screwed up and didn't change my roster, so I had no starting pitchers going this game. However, fade's starters all crashed, with Hudson scoring -4, Leiter -2, and Clemente leaving after 4 innings with a no-hitter. Don't know why he left yet, but you gotta go five to get the win. Check out my team's record thus far: L, W, L, W, L, W, L, W, L, W...at least we're consistant. Last game I scored 211 points...and still lost. My hitters have moved into the #1 position, 7 points ahead of The Cat, but my pitching is still 8th. Overall, I don't see anyone pulling ahead in this league. I think we are gonna be bunched together all year.
No wonder he left after 4...he's dead. One other note...#1 ranked second baseman Junior Spivey, scoring 3.8 FP/game...was a waiver wire pick-up. Sweet.
Um, Bob, I kinda knew it wasn't Roberto. I just typo'ed Matt's name. I saw that he was HBP in the top of the fifth, I figured that was the problem. Lucky break for me. And how about Lance Berkman? He's like a good relief pitcher...every two or three games he good for 15 or more points (today 18)!
