Came for a friends birthday to San Diego this weekend. Other than the weather and the water, this place has few redeeming qualities.

    CaliMex is inferior to TexMex.
    Roads are in bad shape.
Everything is more expensive. Gas is like $2.60 per gallon.
Higher homeless density than population density.
And while I can't put my finger on it, the overall lack of urgency makes me uneasy.

Trust me, stay there for more than a weekend and you'll come to ask why the **** you have to go back to Texas.

The only thing bad about San Diego is the cost of living. The weather can be boringly perfect year round.

That's the best(/worst) you could come up with?

Enjoy wherever you live. It's terrible here. Gas is usually way more than $2.60. Stay away.

OP, you were able to eat at all the Mexican restaurants, drive on most of the streets of SD and was able to determine homeless density in just one weekend? You are like superman !

I am being melodramatic. But I had a paradise in my mind when I pictured SD but it didn't hold up over these last 72 hours.

    Dude.

You should do a little research before you go.

Are you going to try to eat Mexican food in Wisconsin? No.

I'm going to be there next month, all I've heard were great things about San Diego.

    Oh, go to the beach.

I was told the only things that were truly unique to San Diego were carne asada fries and the San Diego Burrito.

Maybe I shouldn't have stayed downtown.

I was less impressed with SD too, as a giant cloud seemed to hang from above, but I did enjoy the Lloyd House, Sea World, the Zoo, and I had an incredible seared tuna.

Been 2x. It has its spots.
    But overall a beautiful place.
Point Loma and Balboa Park are noice.
Gaslamp during comic-con is crazy packed...lots of fun.

I was staying in Gaslamp, partied near Point Loma, then visited Pacific Beach and Hillcrest.

I was expecting more LA. This place has no density depite being massive.

That's one of the things I never liked about Austin when I lived there for a few years. It doesn't seem like something that should bother you, but it just does.

When it comes to cities in general, it's a different strokes kind of thing. Some will love cities that others can't stand.
