there was another large group of Rox fans on the opposite side of where the Clippers bench was...if you were facing the goal, the clippers bench is to the right and they were in the left corner of the goal, near the player tunnel...

ha, thats awesome, yall met Carlos, know him through my MySpace group, told him that he was shown on the FSN Houston feed and said I will cap it for him, once I get it from R2K. He was sitting like 5 rows behind the Rockets bench.

I think the Rockets should start handing out Yao foam heads along with red shirts, and the opponents will have Yao staring at them for the entire game.

It's a foam head, much like the foam fingers you can buy. The Rockets gave away the Yao heads (and also Steve Francis heads) a while back. A good friend of mine started the company that manufactures the heads and had a few left over so he gave me one. EVERYONE loves that thing and it gets a lot of attention at the games! I had random strangers asking to take pictures with it hahah At the end of the game Penny Marshall came up to me and said she loved it, as did a bunch of others.

here's a funny story about the heads...my friend (who produced them) and I went to the Warriors/Rockets game in Oakland about 4 years ago. I had the Yao head and he had the Steve Francis head. he was wearing a franchise jersey as well but I didn't have any Rockets gear on, just the head. we were loud as heck and talking a lot of crap (as the warriors fans like to do) well, during a timeout the Warriors mascot was running in the stands and came up behind us. we had no idea he was there, but it was all being broadcasted on the jumbotron...so we were just sitting there talking and the whole place is watching the mascot behind us as he unloads two bottles of silly string ALL OVER my friend and his franchise head! everyone in the arena was cracking up, my friend was pissed for a few seconds, and I was just sitting there leaning away trying not to get hit. it was really funny and made for another great Rockets memory...

we got the tickets from some guy on craigslist. it was a fun adventure as we roamed around the area looking for a wifi signal that sunsrocketsfan's laptop could pick up so we could search the internet for tickets in case we couldn't get good seats from scalpers.

Carlos, the guy with the wig and painted face, is a member here but I forgot his name. we met him at the last lakers game too. he said he'll be at the game friday and already has good seats.

We were going to paint our faces too! We stopped at Michael's on the way to the game and bought a couple kits of face paint but we needed to get into a restroom to do it. We usually try to get into the arena as soon as they open the doors, but the guy we bought the tickets from didn't show up until 5 minutes before the game started  that's why we were kind of stressing about it. we had our paint all ready to go but no time to get in and do it.

That's so cool. See what I miss out on being a Rockets newbie! LOL Does your friend still make them? I would think you could do that around not only the NBA but other professional sports as well. I know I would buy one :) Kudos to him for the initiative!

LOL I would have been irritated as well. Though I expected to get heckled at when I went to the Palace and cheered for the Rockets there. :) Didn't happen but I was prepared for it. Great story Thanks for sharing!!

My friend tried to market the heads to different sports teams, but I'm not sure how far he got. He's gone back to school and is now looking to do other things. I think it was just a fun startup thing he did during college. I do see them occasionally on ebay and I always keep an eye out for them on tv because they pop up at various arenas, and email him to let him know they're out there.

We had an ******* for an usher, he kept giving us trouble and went out of his way to be a dick to us. Within a minute of sitting down he came up to me and said that if I raised the Yao head up he was going to take it away because it was too big and would block others' views. At the end of the game when Yao was at the freethrow line I raised it up because the Clippers bench was standing in front of us and we couldn't see anything so I thought at least I'd try to make our presence known a little, and the damn usher came over again and threatened to take it away. There were four empty seats next to me in the front row so at halftime we tried to all sit there, and that b*stard came over and said we had to sit in our assigned seats, even though no one was going to be there for the rest of the game and our assinged seats were literally like right behind the ones we tried to sit in. he must have asked to see our tickets like 3x. I was really pissed and he did put sort of a damper on our night. i've never had such a bad usher in all the games i've ever been to, and if it wasn't for him it would have been a perfect evening. at least we won so all is good!

they guy who sold us the tickets didn't care that we were Rockets fans, but him and his girl did pretend to be dissappointed.

They also looked at the red-faced roxs fan (Carlos, the guy with the wig and painted face, is a member here but I forgot his name. we met him at the last lakers game too. he said he'll be at the game friday and already has good seats. ) and Bull/Bill said " Hey he escaped!" Bill/Bull, asked..."from where? Bull/Bill said, from the Toyota Center!"

i have to add that last night was probably one of the best rocekets expereince i had. it was great getting those awesome seats at the last second. I checked the highlights out on NBA.com last night and u could see us everytime they were on that side of the court.

yup its a shame we didnt get to sing the yao ming song at the end.. oh well maybe next time...

meeting les as were leaving definately topped off the night.. he was pretty down to earth and seemed really cool.. we told him we would see him in houston at the finals.. :)

Yeah the game was alot of fun. Especially after that late 3 by Battier. Im always suprised of how many rox fans there are in LA. Of course there are alot of Yao fans that showed up. :) Les was a real nice guy. He said "take some more pictures and squeezed us together. He asked us if we were from Houston. I think we all were except yoyo. (Denver Harbor represent or as Scyth called it "the ghetto") We should really try to set something up in advance, I guess next season now. buy a whole little section together. Get some rowdie tshirts and go nuts. That's true about the lakers game. they're in the dark now.
