WOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO **** blocked San Antonio twice!! Batum was big surprise though, atleast we pissed off the Spurs GO ROCKETS
Because we never had much interest in himto begin with. Besides, we only got Batum to keep the Spurs from getting him and to get Green.
is we the fans or the rockets front office? cause i wouldn't expect much forum-posting from the rockets front office.
does is really matter? you're coming across as real bitter. kinda jilted. I do find it funny that the spurs are saying that george hill is the player they wanted all along. as if they weent going to draft batum all along. lol!! if it was a ruse to get batum to drop down to (close to) their spot but to have another team draft him, the spurs organization is a bunch of asses. that move would cost batum many draft spots and, as such, many $$$.
Whatever trick SA may have I have to say the Spurs are in a class of their own compared to most NBA teams. They didn't whine to the media like a baby about the Brent Barry non-call, and they barely took any time in selecting George Hill. Look at their past drafts...how many of those picks could you say were expected by all mock drafts...Tony Parker...Manu Ginobili...Ian Mahinmi...and now there is George Hill...So they are kind of a unique drafting team which I think is just class......
i wish i had a dime for every knucklehead on the internet that tried to psycho-analyze me. i wouldn't have to work anymore. it's handily beating out the knuckleheads that get criticism of their writings confused with some form of facism (i.e. accusing me of being the 'net police'), for which i'd like a quarter. i have no idea who the spurs were going to draft, nor who the best player available at position 25 to draft was. i just know that teams lie to players and other teams and media all the time about whether they want this guy or that guy. i know that you are smart so i hate insulting your intelligence like this: the ruse is to feign interest in one player so that another player is available. beat your chest all you want, you just can't know who the wanted guy really was. you never got to see the flop, never got to see who won the pot.
actually no they don't...we could learn about from their organization, especially their international scouting.
They had 2 good draft picks, and all the rest have been busts. Unless you count Scola, but he was traded away because of the luxury tax.
If the Spurs still had Sam Presti, it would be a different story. Sam Presti was the guy who pushed for Tony Parker in the 2001 draft. POP and RC's drafting has not been so impressive, since Presti left. Spurs lost some great front office talent, Pritchard(Portland) and Presti(Seattle). Now, they are left with no young talent to keep the championship machine going. Portland and Seattle are on the rise.
Tony Parker had a bad initial draft workout with the Spurs. Spurs coaches wrote off Tony Parker, but Presti worked to changed their attitude. They have only had 2 good picks. Duncan was the consensus #1 pick, they tanked to get. Pop wrote off Tony Parker and Sam Presti pushed for Parker. Scola and Ginobili are the only good draft picks, they have had in the last 10 years. http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/basketball/nba/spurs/stories/MYSA1001 06.01C.BKNspurs.presti.30c20b9.html
Dave M: I have no interest in psycho-analyzing you. interpreting context and psycho-analyzing you are 2 different beasts... as to your last post, I believe the whole cloak and dagger does happen between organizations. no disagreement there. so, explain why batum's agent said they were "one spot away" when the rox selected batum? was that all part of the elaborate hoax? why the hiding of physical records? did anyone above the spurs pick ever intimate wanting george hill??? I don't remember any of it, if so. it seems a logical conclusion that the spurs and batum were an item...more than him just wanting to be a spur. George Gervin: the spurs lost this battle. morey got the better of them. accept it. u have 4 championship trophies that tally up the war score. right now, it's a blowout victory for u guys. for this battle, though, the spurs took a hard one right up their dirty little riverwalks...
