Duncan is just not right, all the wear and tear of the extra playoff games over last few years has caught up to him. Dallas will win this series and the west, but it doesn't matter, it is Detroit's year. DD
I hate the Mavs and would rather see the Spurs win this series. On the other hand I don't hate Avery and I think he's proving why he won the coach of the year award. Avery is a great coach who makes great adjustments and the chess match between him and Pop is what makes this series great. We all know how Avery eventually figured out how to beat the Rockets and how to out coach JVG in a seven game series. The worst thing to come out of this would be having to watch Cuban celebrate winning a title. If the Mavs do the unthinkable and beat the Spurs they will be the favorites to win it all and I think they can beat the Pistons or who ever comes out of the east.
The more titles San Antonio wins means it'll be harder for the Rockets to re-claim the title of best NBA franchise in Texas. Go Mavs!
i'm going for the spurs.. only because i'm forced to. Hope whoever it is loses next round. otherwise to the pistons
highly doubtful many people would expect Dallas to beat Detroit. Dallas would likely have a hard time getting past Phoenix if that's the WCF matchup.
you're a better man than i am. too many people i know in dallas whom i do not want to hear from about "another" dallas championship. no, thanks! spurs fans i can deal with. but dallas....ewwwwww...shudder.
yeah i don't like any texas team besides the rockets but the lesser of two evils is definitely the spurs.
Hmmm. I always thought Spur fans were pretty knowledgable. Not sure why I thought that, but I guess I was wrong. Agree with thewaterox. Avery has quietly turned into the best coach in the league for my money. Watching him outcoach JVG after going down 0-2 last year was very eye opening. I would prefer Dallas won (as much as I loathe them) because a 7-game series between Dallas and Phoenix would be very entertaining. But I don't think we Rocket fans have to worry about Dallas winning it all. Detroit will take care of who ever comes out of the West.
Exactly, I hate both but right now the Mavs are on the top of my list, when they lose the Spurs are next I can't even begin to tell you how much I hate the Mavs....
Personally I cant stand the Mavs and hope the Spurs pull it out. I've been hearing Dallas fans talk noise to me all year about how the Mavs are better than the Rockets and still talk about the 40 point blowout.
I was torn at first as to who I wanted to see lose this series more. I have decided that I would much rather see Dallas lose for the following reasons: 1. At least if San Antonio wins the championship this year that'll be one more ring for former Rocket Robert Horry. 2. If San Antonio wins the championship, it's just one more banner for them. That's no big deal. However, if Dallas wins the championship, it's their first and that's an infinitely bigger deal. 3. Josh Howard 4. Marquis Daniels 5. Jason Terry 6. Jerry Stackhouse 7. Dirk Nowitski 8. 40 points.
Whichever team wins this series, I'll be rooting for to win the championship. If the championship doesn't come to Houston, it should at least come to Texas.
Have you actually watched these games? Duncan is the only Spur who has looked right. 31 points, 13 rebounds and 2 blocks in Game 1... 28 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks in Game 2... all on 59 percent shooting from the floor and 73 percent from the line. It's the Spurs' supporting cast, especially Parker and Ginobili, that looks worn down. The four-day layoff between games sucks as a fan, but I think it'll be excellent for the Spurs and give Parker a chance to rest his legs. I think you'll see a very determined and rested Spurs team when they take the floor Saturday afternoon. They're usually a better road team anyway, and there's definitely precedent for them doing this to Dallas. The last time these two met in the playoffs (2003), the Mavs won Game 2 in SA and took the series back to Dallas tied at 1... the Spurs then took both. Yes, it's a better Dallas team than they were back then. But I also think it's a better Spurs team.
Don't judge everything by this thread. Every city has its sports talk radio morons when things go wrong. By and large, the Spurs fans I've come across over the internet and in the couple of times I've been to SBC Center have been very nice and knowledgable about the game.
If the Mavs lose to the Spurs it would be nice to see Finley play a big role and stick it to Cuban like Nash did last year. If they go on and face the Suns in the WCF I will become to the biggest Nash fan on the planet and I hope he can have a repeat performance against his old team. The look on Cuban's face when the Mavs lose is priceless. Detroit is my home town team and they are riding a lot of momentum right now, but I think a victory over the Spurs would be like injecting 100% adrenaline into the Mavs. When the Mavs won game two they were celebrating on the court like it was the series clencher. That shows how much they want to get the 800 lb gorilla that is the Spurs off their backs.
Yeah, but I'm not counting out the Spurs just yet. They've shown they can win in Dallas. I still think it will go 7 games. I'm pulling for Detroit because I like Flip Saunders. I'd love to see them win and stick it to Larry Brown by showing that no coach is bigger than the game. He should have never left Detroit. What was he thinking? Detroit winning would also stick it to the Timberwolves, which is always a good thing.
