You do make a good point. I'd rather face them first, and maybe we will. Not only that, but wouldn't it be sweet to knock them out first, if they make it past the first round? That is, if we do too..
Kerr just conceded an L to a team that's right behind them in the playoff race...that's so weak. If GS slips to that 7th seed and has to face Memphis or OKC in the 1st round instead of a team like Denver while also losing HCA advantage against the Spurs then their road to the finals will become much tougher.
This is why I like the Spurs and Warriors organization, they care about their team and winning, not the NBA. There is a NFL team like that, it is the New England Patriots. Those poor people pretty sure is a stubhub fanatic.
Maybe their players are all out of shape. Who knows, but they are coddled millionaires who don't care about the fans who pay their salaries. Give me a break if you think guys in their 20's can't play 25 to 40 minutes two nights in a row, with rests during that entire 25 to 40 minutes, considering there is more time off the court than on the court during a 2 hour game.
Home court needs to mean something. I'm not sure teams are doing enough to ensure that when you do play at home that you do in fact have a home court advantage. The crowd is not enough anymore. Gotta get more creative.
Agree 100%. All my hardcore Spurs brethren want nothing to do with playing the rockets in the 2nd round of the playoffs. I just don't see the Warriors being beat by anyone if healthy.
They are playing a kid's game, but the winning teams are just about winning for themselves than for the NBA. The NBA in the 80s are gone when players play injured, play loyally to teams (unlike Durant, Lebron) and play all the games. I don't like that players take time off, but it is working for this current generation of players, working for the top NBA teams (Houston should be included ).
Not everyone rests just because they can. Some actually are in shape enough to get out on the floor and enjoy playing ball. Some want to put on a show for their fans, and are very competitive. I think immediately of Harden and Beverley in that scenario. The NBA is all about making a ton of money, and the more games they schedule the more the players make and the owners reap in. When they rest healthy players who aren't on any injury status, then the fans aren't getting what they paid for. They should get their money back, or at least half of it to watch a bunch of backups on the court. I don't see the schedule changing, because the players who need or want to sit won't want a pay cut when they can get paid more to take it easier.
The year was 2005 - the freshly acquired TMac and the mighty Yao Ming won 51 games with a supporting cast of veteran players like Padgett, Wesley, and Bob Sura. They could hang with the best teams in the NBA and fans were salivating at when they would get their chance at the San Antonio Spurs, with whom they matched up well, in the playoffs. Alas, match-up problems, a meddling owner, and NBA referees conspired to create one of the worst series meltdowns of all time, and the 2nd round never saw the light of day. From the ashes would arise Tinman reborn - a Clutchfans poster who would dedicate his life to explaining how the fault of this series loss rested on the shoulders of one man. But I digress... The lesson I learned is to treat every series like the finals. Nothing comes for granted to this team.
both teams will whoop rockets' ass in the playoff. At best, we can take 'em to 7 games. Just being realistic.
ok fool. if you believe the rockets are apparently going to get "whooped" just leave it at that. don't see why you try and cover yourself on the other end saying they can potential take it to 7 games. actually it's clutchfans nvm i do see why fool
Thats not being realistic. Thats just being pessimistic. If I had to bet $ id probably choose spurs or warriors but its closer than you think dude. I wouldnt bet more than 100$ on any team. Rockets have a very reasonable and realistic chance to take 1 or both of em out.
Let's see how the first 2 games go. If we are down 0-2, it is time to go "bad boys" of Houston. In a way, this is how the Cavs came back against the Dubs last year -- they became a more physical team, especially against Curry. Not Detroit physical, but a cleaner type.
They should almost do that anyway - against Golden State. Those guys are protected little princesses not used to a tough game.
Exactly. We don't need to be dirty, like squaring off the elbows on somebody's ribcage, but tougher screens should be the norm in a playoff game. I guess I remember the 19 80's and how playoff bb used to be -- rough and rough.
