I think it makes us a 5-6 seed. If everyone stays healthy, we will make the playoffs easily and possibly get into the second round.
sam_amick Sam Amick Source confirms that free agent center Sam Dalembert has agreed to sign a two-year deal with Houston.
The problem is playing Hill, Thabeet, or PatPat at Center would have just been laughable in this league. Morey and Les don't want to tank. If they did, they'd go all out and trade KMart and Scola. Losing while having a decent team except for a huge hole at C doesn't make much sense.
Not sure why people are so angry. We were already out of the running for a good pick. The NJ pick would be bad, might as well get rid of the obligation now and shoot for the playoffs. Dalembert makes some boneheaded plays, but we have zero reliance on him offensively and he will likely improve our defense. The guy has been known to have 15+ rebound nights and the occasional 5-6 blocks nights. Lets atleast see the dollar value before picking up our pitchforks.
It's probably a really cheap contract that doesn't hurt our flexibility. I wonder if the 2nd year is an option? EDIT: You beat me to it.
Very apt way to describe how I feel. You know what else floats?... I'll leave you to figure that one out. There has to be something we're not seeing here, some work behind the scenes. There's no way that a team goes out of its way to choose mediocrity. I have to believe that there is a method behind the madness here...
