Yup, thats why cap clearing and picks are the way to go. Trying to trade 5 mediocre players for a superstar doesnt even work in fantasy, why would it in real life?
True. But now they're trying to get Dwight, maybe we could try being that 3rd team. I know it's not going to happen just trying to speculate. Nvmd.
Min. 0% Net Pts -3 Off 109.5 Def 113.6 Net 48 -4.1 Aside from the fact that this information tells me he rarely ever plays center, or if he does at all, those numbers are NOT good. Especially his defensive rating. We are already loaded with scorers in our starting 5. Why would we need Millsap for his offense? Although Dalembert is not Paul Millsap, he provides what we need most out of our center position. We got him for a bargain, while preserving the rest of our team. Our assets were good enough for Dell Demps were they not? Believe it or not the trade veto had nothing to do with us directly. It was about Paul going to the Lakers while simultaneously opening cap room for them. This is common knowledge.
They weren't. It tooko the combined assets of the Rockets and the Lakers to pry CP3 away from the Hornets.
Ok. To be fair, our assets plus Odom. If we were in LA, I am sure that replacing Lowry with Odom in the deal would have initially gotten it done for CP3. Either way, we would still have been deep at every position.
Yao was a big part of that transaction but that leads to another conversation. So Garnett, Nash and TMAC...who else?
CP3 - LAC. Gasol - LAL. And also the Gasol - HOU trade was technically agreed upon by all 3 parties, before the league stepping in. But at least that demonstrated that the strategy is possible. Better yet, it demonstrated the strategy is possible with the very roster we currently have. But to your point, yes it is incredibly difficult to pull off. Then again not every team in NBA history had Morey wheeling and dealing for them. Keep you fingers crossed.
Lets put it this way. Excluding the 2009 draftees (let's not muddy the waters on DM's clearance bin finds where most will struggle to stay in the NBA next year) we have: 0 top 10 picks 2 picks at 14 5 picks in the 20s (including Sammy) The rest of our team consists of 2nd rounders or undrafted players. Check the Lakers, Heat, Celtics, NYKs, Bulls, etc rosters. Not. Even. Close.
Chris Webber. Barkley. EDIT: Grant Hill too, though his ankle exploded immediately after. Jason Kidd was arguably up there too, before going to PHX. Alonzo Mourning.
IMO the 2 14th picks are rated higher..... MarcusMorris would have gone 12-13 Patrick was the 6th player on their radar
Really glad we got Dalembert. The west is tough. Dallas OKC Memphis Lakers Spurs Denver Portland Rockets Clippers will be right behind us. Utah, Hornets and Minny will be fighting closely for 10th spot. If we get a legit starting 3 and back-up 5, I honestly believe we can make it to 4th seed.
Webber and Barkley were in a much different NBA but if you want to go back that far okay...Kidd going to NJ is a better illustration but again NJ doesn't count. Point is...you had to think about it. Morey is trying to do something MUCH harder than going via the draft and while it's less risky, we all see how hard it is to achieve. The Gasol deal was a KILLER because he actually pulled it off. Not sure how many of those opportunities still exist which is why everyone took it as hard as they did.
That is very optimistic. We should focus getting into the 7th or 8th spot first and solidify it. Anything can happen in a condensed situation with back to backs. We have an advantage there because of youth. !!!!
what kind of crack are you on? Conley ~ Kyle Lowry OJ Mayo < Kevin Martin Rudy Gay >>> Chase Budinger Zach Randolph >> Luis Scola Marc Gasol >> Samuel Dalembert. Rudy Gay... that one still hurts
