Indeed. Unless the Rockets get off to some absurd hot start, Dalembert along with our 09ers are probably more to get something at the trade deadline than to keep long term.
What? When did I say that? Who said I was mad about this signing? If nothing else, it puts Thabeet talk to bed(for now anyways). Signing is what it is. Maybe they sneak into the playoffs, maybe not. It is what it is. Doesn't really change my outlook on the Rockets.
It's a move that needed to be made. The Rockets had no size or shot-blocking, and if McHale is as motivated to protect the paint as he says he is, it's a move that makes a whole lot of sense. Jordan Hill is not a center and too much of a gamble to be relied upon consistently inside. The only true center on the roster is Thabeet. Scary proposition in a league where size kills. I know some may not like the move, but there is a grand opportunity here with this shortened season that favors youth and depth, which the Rockets have. I see the Lakers, Spurs, Blazers, Nuggets and maybe even the Grizzlies taking drastic steps backward. This is gonna be a weird season.
Happy with the signing. We have the same team that finished last season on a bright note and added the one thing we were missing. Without blowing up the salary structure. On a side note, what is the deal with referring to Morey as Murray? Is this some inside joke I missed? It's getting irritating with the endless repetition (ascaptjack, I'm looking at you).
Sorry about that. Some chinese website referred Daryl Morey as to "Murray" and thought it was kind of funny. My bad.
Jonathan_Feigen Jonathan Feigen OK. Misunderstood someone breaking down the Dalembert contract. It's two years, not 3 - $7 mil in 1st yr, $6.7 in 2nd with $1.5 guaranteed.
Yeah muthertruckers yeah. Thats right - yeaaaaaaahhhhhhhh booooyyyyyyyyyyyy!!! You though Jordan Hill and Thabeet could play center. Thabeet will show you how to hold down the 5.
Dalembert is a great pick up for the Rockets. We got him for 2 years for $14 million. $7 million this year with a team option next year. We can renounce his rights after this season, if he does not works out. We can still be a big player in next year's free agency as well. If he plays great, then he is a bargain for $7 million.
Heh, thanks for saying that. "Player development" is overrated when they've got nowhere to go. It quickly becomes futility and frustration, for the team, the coaches, and the fans.
Lowry/Dragic/Flynn/Lin Martin/Lee Bud/Twill/Morris Scola/PPat Dalembert/Hill/Thabeet This roster can defintely make the playoffs this year.
