The news keeps on getting worse At least it wasn't as horrific as gifting CP3 to the Lakers. after seeing the Clippers show no one can deny that now and say they would've gotten worse.
Nice contract, Morey! By making it an option at 7M or 1.5M, it is like creating a derivative on the secondary market for the NBA that can be of value for a team looking to clear cap space or for a contending team that needs a defensive center. If we're working with a cap-clearing team, we're likely to be able to pick up a serviceable veteran if we want to go that way. And if we're working with a contending team, then it means we'll likely be able to pick up a younger player with upside. This flexibility really adds a lot of value to this contract, which would probably be worth a few mill if there were a true secondary market in the NBA. Not to mention the fact that we finally have a shotblocker to play next to Scola.
I know this is a deep draft, but exactly how many superstar players do you think are in this draft? I'm not talking about very good quality players in the mold of Tyreke Evans, Eric Gordon, Jeff Green or LaMarcus Aldridge. I'm talking about true superstars in the mold of Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, Shaq or Dream. Maybe one, Andre Drummond. So exactly how does not having Dalembert get us any closer to the number one pick in the draft? Even if we draft 8th or 7th we are not going to get a franchise saving superstar in the draft with out a ton of luck.
Reported by Feigen to be 3 years $20.5 Million with 2 years guaranteed fully... 3rd year will have $1.5 M guaranteed.
Lots of conflicting info regarding Dalembert contract numbers. WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski Sam Dalembert's 2-year deal w/ Houston pays $7M in '11-12, w/ team option for $7M in '12-13, sources say. If option declined, $1.5M buyout. WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski If the Rockets decide against bringing Dalembert back for year two of deal, it essentially became a one year, $8.5M contract for the center. ESPNSteinLine Marc Stein Source with knowledge of deal says Dalembert gets two-year contract from Rockets worth $13.7 million. That's $7 million this season and ... ESPNSteinLine Marc Stein Dalembert CONT' ... 2012-13 is $6.7 million at Rockets' option w/buyout of $1.5 million if Houston elects to let him return to free agency Jonathan_Feigen Jonathan Feigen Dalembert contract worth $20.5 million over three years. Third year has $1.5 million of $6.7 million guaranteed.
we can amnesty Daly in his 2nd year if he doesn't pan out...better trade thabust now for picks or something.
How is two years for an elite level rebounder and shotblocker not a fantastic deal? No room to critisize Morey on this one unless you are just looking for reasons to justify your dislike of DM.
Woj and Stein are reporting that it is a 2 year deal worth around 13 million with only the 1st year guaranteed. Feigan is reporting it is a 3 year deal worth around 20 million with the 1st 2 years guaranteed. I hope this is just Feigan wrong as usual.
Either deal is an absolute steal. Less than 7 mil a year for a true center that rebounds and blocks shots at an elite level? Great Job by DM!!
You know what's gotten tired? Pinheads like you who come on a BBS and try to dictate how others should act or feel. I could care less if you don't like what I have to say. I suggest that you go practice your BBS dictator act elsewhere. Or better yet, why don't you go start a board that only allows posts from folks who agree 100% with what YOU have to say. That way, reality won't have to intrude into your fantasy world.
THANK YOU!!!!! Jonathan Feigen OK. Misunderstood someone breaking down the Dalembert contract. It's two years, not 3 - $7 mil in 1st yr, $6.7 in 2nd with $1.5 guaranteed.
Feigen is hopefully wrong. 2 year/13.5 million with 1 year guaranteed and 1.5 mill buyout is alot different than a 3 year/20 million with a buyout after 2nd year.
