A very elementary concept that few here are able to grasp, unfortunately.

He either makes us better and is worth keeping or he becomes an attractive $7M expiring (essentially) contract that we can package with our other assets to make a significant upgrade during the season.

    Well played, Morey. Well played.

pupu platter consisting of Dalembert. meaning, there's other pieces in there, probably Scola and/or Martin.

Even if this is a one year deal, it makes me uncomfortable that it seems like management doesn't know what direction it's taking.

    No real downside to this.

He'll be the best rebounder we had since Hakeem or Barkley.

Ya after a thousand top 5 picks.

You're right though. The Rockets should continue to put up abysmal attendance numbers... make the playoffs once in a blue moon so we can land a player like Blake Griffin, not re-sign the star players that do come in, etc...

The bottom-line is that Les is doing what any good businessman would do.

Kings made Dalembert his two best offers of guaranteed money over past 2 weeks, sources say, but he clearly wasn't inclined to return there.

Maybe they are trying to go the route of the Memphis Grizzlies?

Get good, but not necessarily elite players and hope they pull off an upset in the playoffs?

THIS. I'm going to be very angry if we are an 7-9th seed again. Mediocrity is the worse possible outcome for an NBA team.

For the Debbie Downers out there, next week, season opener against the Magic, would you rather start Hill or Dalembert against Dwight Howard? Case closed.

We finally have a rim protector who basically has to play well to get a bigger salary in the following season. Win-win. If Sammy-D plays well, these Rockets will be a handful to go up against. Especially in a hectic 66-game season.

And that right there, in a nutshell, is our problem.

Dalembert deal with HOU just feels like last two people at the dance, wanting a quick fling low on passion. In other words: Makes sense.
