It's possible that this may not affect the LN52A750 TV's. I've gotten one response so far from avsforum in which the guy said: "From the research I've done, those other panels are not capable of 120Hz, so as long as that's the case then they will not be able to use the other manufacturers for the ln52a750." I don't know who he is, or what research he's done, but at least it's not bad news, eh?
Well I found out that I have an s panel so all is well. Sorry I can't give more info on the other panels.
Are you F-ing kidding me? Samsung and LG make some of the best TVs in the world- on par with the Japanese. I don't know about this panel scam, but Samsung is among the world leaders in quality and technology. Maybe you should have purchased the "S" then? To compare Korean electronics to Chinese is just ridiculous.
What cracks me up about these panel wars (which other manufacturers do, too, btw) is that 90-99% of the people that bought the "bad" panel thought they had a damn good picture until they were told there might be a better one.
Samsung screwed me on a rebate for a computer monitor. I sent in all the info immediately, finally got a note from them a couple months later saying I didn't send something when I know I sent everything. By that time I couldn't find anything to send back to them.
So I finally took some time to check my TV, I have an S panel. On the TV's the tag shown on the website in the OP is on the back of the TV. The S was in the top corner of the tag.
That's another scam all these rebate companies take part in. This is why I won't buy based upon rebates - it's a crapshoot whether or not you'll get them. And there's always a certain percentage they'll say didn't send in everything.
I couldn't agree more. I bought a dvd / vhs combo a couple of years ago and it was a pure nightmare. Returned the unit probably 5 times for various problems before I gave up, threw it in the garbage. That unit costed about 300 hundred bones too. I'll never buy another Samsung product.
I got burned on a rebate years ago too, but the amount was small. I still purchase rebate items but I make sure it can be done online that way there is no way a company can say they never received my letter or something was missing.
I was in the same boat with TOSHIBA. I'll never buy a toshiba labeled product again. The only way I'll ever own something made by toshiba is if I wasn't aware of it (different company label slapped on it). I bought a flat tube tv and it lasted less than 2yrs. Bought one of those dvd vhs combos...lasted all of 4 months.
i have a Toshiba TV I bought in 1993. in 1994 we had 3 foot of water in my house. The TV was about a foot under. Thing still works perfectly and I have never had a problem with it.
