I hate to say this (like REALLY hate) but I'd stay away from the Philips. I got my 42" Philips plasma a few months ago and not long ago I noticed a very faint and fuzzy vertical line on the screen. It's only noticeable when there's a bright background and it's more apparent when the on screen action is moving left to right.

It looks similar to burn in but there is no possible way that's what it is. It's not on the edge of the screen where non-HD programs use the black bars. It's more like a third of the way across the screen from left to right. I've been very cautious in order to avoid burn in, and there's just no way I had a picture on there long enough to leave that mark. I'm not even sure what the hell kind of program would make a line there.

I've been partly busy and partly lazy lately so I haven't taken the time to try and figure out if the manufacturer's warranty covers it or not, but I'm not exactly holding my breath.

philips is not a good manufacturer for plasma.
panasonic and pioneer are the best. followed by samsung.

(unless you are really rich and buy fujitsu, runco, and pioneer elite)

    A. I read plenty of reviews about my TV before the purchase, and they were overwhelmingly positive.

    B. Where were you and your "philips is not a good manufacturer for plasma" BEFORE I bought it!?

I purchased the 42PF7320A just under 6 months ago from Sam's. Recently, I had a problem where every time I turned the TV on there was a vertical line about an inch wide going down the left side of the screen. This line started out black, and then random colors started to surface through the line (the rest of the TV was fine). After it seemed to "warm up" for about 10 minutes, the line was gone and everything was fine.

I went through the warranty program and they had to replace the board and re-sodder some wires. After missing my TV for 3 weeks, I was pretty steamed and called Sam's. They have said I can exchange it for the same model, or there is another Philips PF5321D-37 that is comparable in price. I cant find any info on this model, and I am not sure what to do. I also thought about putting some more money into maybe get a better brand, but I am not sure how much they have available. Before this problem, I had nothing but good things to say about the PF7320A. Any suggestions?? Is anyone familiar with the differences in the 7320A and the 5321D?

Just two. I have a SXRD 60" A2020 in the living room and the Samsung 4071 in my bedroom as a 2nd TV and computer monitor.

I sold my Samsung 3251 for 600 bucks on Craigslist last week. I paid about 1500 a year and a half ago for the thing(including a 5-year warranty). :(

So don't you go calling me a cheapskate, tinman! ;)

Hmm...seems like a similar issue but still slightly different. I have noticed no colors, and mine doesn't go away after "warming up". It's really very very faint and I'd guess that most people might not even notice it unless they were looking for it. It's just that I know it's there and I'm subconsciously looking for it now every time I watch something.

Like I said, I really hope it's covered under warranty, but I'm not expecting it to be.
