So far he has been fkin terrible. Down 8 and yanks Harden and both Lin out. No one out there except Delfino to score. Absolutely assistant material. Get well soon Coach McHale.
Calm down dude. How does he "shoot" us into a loss when he takes ~10 a game? Yea, his shot is broken and can't make wide open shots. But we're not losing cause Lin shoots a lot.
Honestly, I haven't seen much of Lin's play because I was never a big fan and I haven't been able to watch many of the games this season (uverse ) However, of what I have seen, it seems Sampson has little confidence in Lin running the offense. I've rarely seen Lin in the lineup with Harden off the floor. Its usually with Harden or Harden w/o Lin. Isn't Lin supposed to be at his best when he's attacking and dishing vs setting up camp in the corner? Also, Sampson's rotations are sometimes questionable along with his adjustments. Again, I haven't been able to see enough to judge.
He's learning on the fly too. He's obviously not making in-game adjustments very well - but you usually need to be a headcoach for a while to pick that up. He does make game-to-game adjustments though (maybe a bit slower than some would like).
Sampson has been awful, simple as that. Lin came into this season shaky to begin with but Sampson has absolutely destroyed his game and his confidence. Lin is a shell of himself, a borderline NBA player (let alone starter), and Lin should be traded... at this rate, he'll be out of the league.
Even during garbage time, he doesn't even allow Jeremy to take over the game. Isn't that odd? I think he only allowed Jeremy without Harden once and that's with the knicks, in the last few minutes (correct me if i'm wrong) .
Man, so many Lin threads back from the grave after this game. Is he like the only guy this board likes to talk about or something? At the risk of being labelled a LOFer for pointing out some stats, here are 4/5 starters shot numbers: Patterson - 4-15 Parson - 3-10 Asik - 0-6 Lin - 2-9 So I'd put the blame on the starters for shooting us out of the game, Lin included, but not just Lin.
Garbage time is for the rooks and bench, why would you play the starters? They could get injured, they need to keep some in the tank for the next game and the rooks won't get a chance in a tight game.
He only had 9 shots, that is not too much. I think we need a new coach who know how to teach guys to do the defense job how to set screens.
Please do not blame Asik for not dunking the ball (like in Chi) As much as possible, coach Sampson doesn't like our players dunking the ball.
A Rockets defensive coach turned the interim head coach who can not get the team's defense going really underperformed his own main duty. He was lucky to have players who shot ok the last 10-15 games. Some one in the FO office really need to talk to this coach.
Kelvin doesn't know how to utilize his players correctly. He has a very black and white offensive mindset.
Harden and Lin are incompatible because of Sampson's coaching philosophy. This is not working, so either trade one of them or change your approach Kelvin. I think Harden can play off the ball or with the ball in his hands. He can do both well. Lin cannot. Lin needs the ball in his hands to be effective. If Lin were being ineffective as the primary ball handler then I can understand Sampson's approach. But that has not been the case. So my question is why is Harden being used as a hybrid pg/sg? The first 2 games were a good indication of how much more Harden can be in his natural position and Lin in his. I know the season is young, but if this is the type of offense we're gonna use, maybe a change does need to be made in the near future. A Mario Chamlers or Jason Kidd type of PG would blend better with Harden. Or make Harden your PG and get a spot up SG like Ray Allen. It's a real shame because I think both Harden and Lin could be more effective if they are used in the right way.
