I wouldn't take anything A3P0 says seriously. Old man trying to understand the mentality of a talented 20 year old and writing him off as someone who's "just going to get worse". This ain't the army pops. Hakeem himself was an angry, fiery player before he figured things out. Shaq was a character from the start. Ewing threw a lot of punches.

If I was Sacramento, Id trade Evans before letting go of Cousins. Talented guards are a dime a dozen in this league and Evans is a poor decision maker. Percentages are terrible. Trade him while his value is high for a top 5 draft pick and solid role player. Kyrie Irving will be much more compatible with the current roster.

I agree with you that if the Kings start considering a trade they would be asking a considerable amount in return. However, I don't think blocking Cousins from being "rewarded" with a trade is high on their priority list. Teams do what is best for them financially first and foremost. That can range from overspending on a championship team to cutting salaries to the bare bone. It just depends on a team owner's philosophy and the size of their check book. Some owners prioritize winning higher than profits and vice versa. Based on the Maloofs financial problems over the last couple of years I'm guessing their highest priority is sustaining the bottom line of the team. That's why they traded Martin for Landry last year because they got huge cap relief in return. No one at that time thought that was a fair trade talent wise.

Cousins is the only player on their team that they could leverage to get back maximum return on. The Kings overall are in a really tough spot right now when you consider that Cousins has alienated a lot of Kings fans this season with his antics, the team has one of the worst records in the league, and there aren't going to be very many free agents that will want to sign there in the offseason unless the Kings overpay them. So if they want to change the culture of the team and turn things around they will most likely have to do it through trades and perhaps get lucky in the draft as well. Since the season began the Kings have been telling their fan base that the future is bright because the team is being built around Evans and Cousins. But I seriously doubt that their fans are going to buy into that after this season. Both Evans and Cousins have displayed a me first attitude and you just can't win games consistently that way if those two players are suppose to be leading the team. Look how everybody on this website has been bashing AB for being selfish this season and hoping he gets traded.

Like I said before though that doesn't mean the Kings will trade Cousins because a lot depends on what other teams are willing to give up to get him. But I do think that the "untouchable" tag the Kings put on Cousins is deteriorating with each passing day.

 

Needs to send him to the Rockets and rebuild our team around the BIG man game!!!

 

Let's try to be respectful here. Especially since all you're doing here is regurgitating a point that he already made (regarding Hakeem's change in temperament over the years) and taking an extreme interpretation of his criticisms regarding what problems Cousins has and what he needs to do in order to improve.

As I see it, he's not writing him off. He's just calling it like it is and hammering down the point that this kid has some major maturity issues (and he does).
