Cousins is a mess and I've been saying it before the draft

He's too immature and apparently not overly smart

He's not a Rockets kind of player

    He has basketball brains.

If you have been watching him play, he is probably one of the better big men passers out there.

Cousins has that killer mentality and toughness. Something J. Hill lacks.

The Kings should get rid of Tyreke fast, while there might still be GMs think he's a legit star. If they lose Cousins because they want to protect Tyreke, then they are dumber than I thought.

He averages 1.8 assists a game and 2.8 turnovers a game. How is that a good passer?

But yeah, Reke sucks. Like I've said, the comparisons to Francis are insulting the Franchise.

A sad thought for the Kings is the possibility neither guy is salvageable as a "star" player. Both need brain transplants. Everyone here seems to see 'Reke for what he is but the excuses being made for Cousins are pathetic. It isn't necessarily one guy is good, the other is bad. Reke is very talented with several limitations, one of them being his intelligence. At the same time, it's very possible Cousins will never accomplish much in the NBA despite his ability. If the guy has this much trouble controlling himself now, there is no telling how far off the tracks he's going to get as time progresses. Most Froot Loops become more extreme as they get older. I see no reason to believe Cousins will improve his behavior. Wish him the best though.

The constant chatter here of the Kings trading Cousins to the Rockets is a waste. Talented rookies almost never change teams for a reason. Why? Because they are cheap. What real incentive do the Kings have to get rid of him if he doesn't cost them much of anything, especially when the Rockets don't have any young players worth a dime on their roster? It would also set a bad precedent for the Kings if they traded Cousins and he did better somewhere else. Believe me, they will hang on to him for two full season minimum.

There is no excuse for Cousins behavior. He is a sorry character that needs professional help and maybe medication. Chris Webber, Rick Adelman, etc aren't mental health professionals and "mentoring" can only do so much.

What has having a team full of "Rockets kind of players" gotten us? Pretty much nothing. We're a hodge podge of one dimensional players.

I'd much rather take a risk on a player who has the ability to be a top 2 center for the next 10 years than put up with the mediocrity we have now. At least we'd be able to say we took a chance.

I love Shane Battier as a person, but as a player he adds nothing to this team as its currently constructed. I like AB, but he's coming unraveled and was pretty one dimensional to begin with.

I read a couple of web articles right before the draft that the team Cousins was hoping would draft him was the Pistons. (Sorry, I don't have the links for them.) From what I recall that was some of the reasoning behind him refusing to work out for the Wolves and Warriors.

I know he worked out for the Kings as well as the Pistons but every since he got to Sacramento he has acted like he doesn't want to be there. (That's not a crime since even happy-go-lucky Carl Landry wants to be traded ASAP as well.) Plus, Cousins's own agent made some comments that suggested that the Kings organization is unprofessional after Cousins was kicked out of practice at the beginning of the season. Now, regardless of what transpired between Cousins and the coaching staff his agent isn't going to overtly throw the Kings organization under the bus early in Cousins rookie season if Cousins is really happy playing in Sacramento. That only undermines the team and it wouldn't be in the best interests of his client. That only really makes sense if Cousins wants to be traded and his client is focused on damage control.

As you know the reality rarely lies in what players, coaches, GM's, owners, and agents say. It's what isn't said or how it is said that can often be more revealing. Hell, Melo would allow you to believe he is just as interested in signing with the Nuggets as he is with signing with the Knicks if you only listened to his comments the last few months. But the evidence is pretty clear that he wants to be traded to the Knicks so he can sign an extension with them.

Of course I could be way off base and even if I was right it doesn't mean that the Kings will trade Cousins. As you might recall however, the Maloof's stated a few days before last year's deadline that they decided not to trade Kevin Martin after much speculation and then ended up trading him to the Rockets. So their repeated stance that Cousins is untouchable could just be BS. Time will tell.

His team is full of bad finishers, and the stats don't tell the whole story. Cousins make good passes to cutters, and he knows when and where to repost. He is easily one of the better passers in the post, and one of the better passers of his position.

Players that have attitude problems don't necessary mean they lack a basketball brain.

Here is a point I forgot to mention:

Let's suppose Cousins wants the Kings to trade him and that is part of the reason for his behavior. Or maybe it isn't a part of why he's blowing up. Either way, they are NOT about to reward him with a trade. The guy is under a cheap rookie contract for several years. If this is indeed a war of wills, Cousins cannot win. He will either get his act together or they will make him stew in his own juices for at least two years. His career is at stake. The Kings reputation is at stake and they won't dare allow DMC to leave and possibly prosper anywhere else unless a team makes a wild offer for him.

Well well well! The Kings respond by snapping a 5-game losing streak and beating the Suns in Phoenix without Cousins. Good for them!

A young Hakeem would already have hit the 16 tech foul count about a month ago :p

What is a Rockets player? probably my biggest memory of Hakeem was his f you very much to Jordan after he blocked his game winner back in the early 90's, lol

    It's probably Jordan's too, haha

The kid has a drive to win, once he gets his head on straight, he'll be success, the head cases you have to worry about are the ones that don't care much, the ones that do usually always get there in a cpl years.
