I think Utah and Lin fans deserve each other. Here's to the years of mediocrity to come

So you're saying that Taiwannese fans would flock to see Lin-Harden but not Harden-CP3 or Howard?

Rockets have no problems selling tickets. Almost all the expensive season tickets are sold to corporations. The only problem they have is getting them out of the lounge and into the seats.

If you know how much they love Lin there, you would not be surprised if they boycott Rockets game without Lin.

    The Heat have 3 x 20M/yr guys.

Morey's suggested they can put together 3 max players, because of Harden's contract which is a lower tier max, ie starts around under 14M.

    Fault for that

I know sooner or later someone will bring this up. Sam is an idiot try to make a living by creating stupid rumor but Rockets's fan are way smarter than that.

if lin does go to utah, it'll be a chance for him to play his own game and strength as a primary ball handler. if he does well enough having more fga, then im pretty sure whichever year that is on, he will be voted in as an all star.

just having the potential to break barriers like mediocrity will be sweet as heck!

    so bring it on

They put that team together pre-new-CBA. And when those contracts are up in a year, will that team remain together?

Granted, a year from now, will DWade still be playing at DWade levels? Will they want (i.e., can they afford) to extend those guys at their current salaries? Will they be able to find/afford the same quality role players to surround them?

Getting three max guys on one team is a taller order these days. If Morey can pull it off, great. But luring the big-name dudes out of L.A.? Unless DH12 already picked out his mansion in First Colony, well.....naw. Still feeling cynical.

As been discussed in this thread there have been a lot of valid points and options that would be better for the team next season. Many agree its a good idea to shop Asik and Lin, or at least weigh the options when it comes to it. I don't think ive seen anyone in this thread who thinks its a 100% bad idea. We definitely need to acquire another star in order to get out of the first round of the playoffs next year. Because if we get to the playoffs this year, i doubt we will get out of the first round if we end up in the 7th or 8th spot. we'll need to get to at least the 6th to have a legitimate chance this season. Next year with someone else to help harden i think we can make a championship run possibly.

You underestimate the addition by subtraction basketballwise...and the cash cow value/perceived upside on the trade market.

    It's this guy's game.

I'm not saying we're winning a title anytime soon, but a deal WILL tilt more towards us than many might think.

Any legitimate Morey idea will never be leaked to the public (e.g. Harden and TRob trades)

Agreed, however I do believe that three (near) max guys (e.g. Harden, Howard, J. Smith) is a possibility.

You can kinda 'game' the cap system if you first use your cap space and then fill out the roster with S&T's, which the Rockets have the assets to do.
If you structure the contracts the right way you could end up with three (near) max players, lots of quality cheap role players, still be $5M or so under the tax and still have multiple future draft picks (and the rights to Llull and Aldemir) enabling you to keep adding young and cheap talent down the road. Yeah, I'd take that. :)

Yah I am not saying there is a 100 percent chance we will get both. But I am saying it is possible...it is moreys plan...and both howard and cp3 are already considering it.

Most annoying replies go to... "no way clips/lakers will trade cp3/dh12" THEY DONT REALLY HAVE A CHOICE!!! THEY ARE FREAKING FREE AGENTS!!! If I see that posted one more time I am going to shoot myself then come back and possess clutchfans and haunt all of you.

    Thank you for understanding.

I don't want to be even indirectly responsible for someone's suicide... BUT then again, I am curious to see if ghosts are real...

Anyone want to step up?

But you forgot to mention and seem to be willing to ignore the fact that CP3 and DH12 do have a choice.

I love Rockets, but we are not Lakers. Big name FAs don't just line up to join us, never happened.
