Looks like Poku grew a beard and changed his name to Chet Holmgren. No one's ever seen them on the same court.
I mean he’s got to be the greatest GM of all time right? KD Russ Harden Green Adams Reggie Jackson Chet Dort JW Giddy
Yeah that Jazz pick ain't gonna convey if Danny Ainge has anything to say about it. Going to be a huge fire sale at the deadline is my prediction. Clippers pick is looking pretty good though. I hope they don't land in the top three.
At this point, the only thing that can stop Sam Presti from being the GOAT… is Alpi Şengün winning a bunch of titles for the Rockets — which would be the funniest plot twist, since Presti traded him away.
What if they both win 2, sharing as such.... Oh, Presti is good and generous, he even helped out other Franchises. With Harden and Sengün. But likely set back Joker's number of titles.
He's killed it overall and is especially on a heater but idk about GOAT. Drafting KD, Russ, Harden, and Ibaka over a three year span and not being able to put a roster together that won at least one championship from that is at least somewhat of a black mark. He was also on a really cold draft streak for several years. Auerbach, West, Krause even though he destroyed what he built, Pop/Buford, Bob Myers, Ainge, Riley. As long as he doesn't grossly mismanage what he's got going Presti will be in that list, though.
Nah Presti is the goat GM IMO. He built a dynastic team twice, he didnt win a ring the first time but what can you do, **** happens. Rings arent guaranteed anymore. You realize Jokic is the best player in the world for the past 5 yrs but only been to the Finals once? Presti is the best GM because he isnt a one hit wonder, he has shown excellence in trades, drafts and personnel hires and despite dunking on everyone he manages to maintain great relationships and so isnt frozen out on trades. One problem good GMs like Ainge experience is when they develop a rep for ripping people off other GMs dont pick up their phones anymore. Presti never lacks trade partners thats why he managed to get a bajillion picks on top of having one of the youngest cores in the league. What Presti did with SGA Thunder is the most dominant GM work ever, they will have 4 picks in next years draft btw, 2 of which could be lotto picks like what the hell.
I need to see how this ultimately turns out. It looks really, really good right now. If best GM is just fleecing other teams for value at the time of the trade then Presti is tops in the modern era based on what he's done since the George trade. I don't think his work before this SGA era is jump off the page impressive. KD at 2 was the easiest no brainer ever. Russ at 5 wasn't a 100% no brainer but not some huge unexpected pick or great scrounge of value. Harden wasn't 100% obvious but realistically he wouldn't have picked Rubio with Russ's rookie year and as weird as it is, passing on Curry for Harden is arguably a miss. Ibaka was a great pick. Outside of that he didn't make a ton of great transactions or draft picks for a long time. Adams at 12 in a bad draft was solid but not a HR like the Bucks picking Giannis at 15 in the same draft. Same thing with Jackson at 24. Solid but not a HR like Butler at 30 in that draft. Nailing 3 top 5 picks is good. What really separates and is harder is putting it altogether. He made some bad trades, picks, and kept Brooks way too long and kind of blew an incredible opportunity the first time around. But he's not doing that with this SGA era. If just collecting some good talent a couple of times is the threshold then Pat Williams should be up there too with the Sixers in the 80s and Magic in the 90s.
He is surely one of the GMs that cares about Oklahoma the City, surroundings, the people and Community..... a good and humble human being. Probably grant him access to Executive Hall of Fame and Key to the City.......He is definitely more than a GM, he is Shane Battier of GMs, he transcends so much more. I am pretty sure he had contributions to bringing a new arena to the Thunder etc.... Dude is a special individual that probably could have been the Next Steve Jobs.
