This is perfect for the Rockets if we can not land a superstar by the deadline. We can easily give up our exp. contracts in the '09 draft (Flynn, Thabeet, Twill, Hill) and add a player like PPatt to give them more incentive. Ppatt is a nice player, but we would be getting a top 5 pick in return.

We will also have to get rid of Dragic because he will be getting starter's money next season and we have our starter in Lowry. We can get a nice young piece on a good contract for Dragic. That would be scenario A with Dragic. Scenario B (because of lack of likelihood) would be being trade partners with the Wolves..

The Wolves (with Rick A. as their coach are always going to think of ways to make their team better NOW), will show interest in Dragic and because of R. A. will naturally show interest in his boy Martin he just might overvalue him. I can see us getting a nice, young piece (Ellington, Wes, Anothny Randolph, if they're desperate maybe even D. Williams) for Dragic and Martin (of course not all of those players for just those two). Of course if D. Williams is included then you have to have more than just Dragic and Martin. The problem will be matching the salaries, but Morey is a mastermind at that.

By doing this, we will become a lotto team (first time this has been discussed, I know) ourselves. Knicks just might end up becoming a lotto team as well. Even if they don't, it will still be a first round draft pick.

We would have a top 5 pick from the Hornets
Our lotto pick (around the 8-12 range)
NY's pick (could fall 10-14, but most likely will be 15-17)

We will have Donatas coming over (who in my eyes is lotto talent).

That is like having three lotto picks and an extra first rounder while keeping Lowry.

This of course would only come if we are unable to land a superstar. Even if we rent one, we would choose the superstar option first. If we rent D. Williams or Dwight, it would be in hopes to land the other through free agency.

I understand clearing the decks of salary for a potential buyer, but they would still have to put some kind of protection on that pick.

Stern giving away Anthony Davis to another team if NO won the lottery would be a PR nightmare.

It's probably just the Minny pick.

Does he have a bad injury? If not, I think the Rockets should take him, depending on the protection on the first rounders. He isn't worth his salary, but is pretty good.

Les your prayers have been answered to get talent!

Les your prayers have been answered to get talent!

Hornets are giving away their first round pick (likely top 5) if you take on Okafor's contract (2 years/27mil).

Trade away our expirings and we can pick ourselves up sine legitimate talent from the draft without tanking!

It's a little price to pay for a high pick, plus Okafor will become a nice expiring year after next!

This is how the Cavs ended up with the #1 pick and Kyrie Irving by agreeing to take on Baron Davis. They lucked out because he ended up getting amnestied

we should do it if it's true ... send 'em what ? Dalembert and another expiring like Thabeet ? they can decline the option on his contract for next season and clear some cap space, and i dont think Sam would see a lot of minutes if Okafor is here ... and the salaries do match

Well since the picture has taken on a life of its own, with people using it to deride as well....still fits.
