I'm pretty sure the Eddie Griffin trade would have been consummated even had Brandon Armstrong (amazingly?) been off the board before #23. Perhaps it was contingent on Richard Jefferson being available at #13, but I'm not even sure that's true.

These sorts of trades get done, with the team trading away the higher pick not always knowing exactly who will be available at the later picks they are acquiring but rather being confident that they will be able to choose from among an acceptable pool of remaining players given their draft board.

I remember reading or hearing it on the radio that CD said getting Eddie was contingent upon the players New Jersey wanted being available when the Rockets drafted and that essentially the Nets let the Rockets know who to draft.

My prediction for a Henson slide in Mock 2.0 (Minnesota at No. 18) was likely too extreme, and so we dial it back a bit by handing him to a Rockets team that needs big men badly. Center Marcus Camby will be a free agent, center Samuel Dalembert has one year left on his deal for $6.7 million (unless Houston decides to buy him out for $1.5 million) and 32-year-old starting power forward Luis Scola's production dipped this season. Henson is rail-thin (6-10½ with shoes and 216 pounds), but he's Anthony Davis lite as a defensive difference-maker and rebounder.
