So if we sign Howard we will have a lineup of Lin, Beverly Harden, Glen Rice (2nd rd pick) Parsons, Cisco Greg Smith, TJones, Dmo Howard, Asik, Kid from Turkey That's a 12 man roster , that's pretty good. And we can always pick another vet like Matt Barnes for the minimum and maybe we get another 2nd pick this draft for Trob so that pretty much fills the roster. I think we can win a championship with that team.
Can we all agree to layout the potential roster breakdown with D12 or Asik at pf? Looking at a lineup with GSmith as our starting pf just makes me sad...lol
http://www.shamsports.com/2013/06/t...tml?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter This article has all the teams projected capspace for the 13/14 season. The author offers up a potential dwight and asik/trob sign and trade that would give more flexibility to the roster.
The only way we sign and trade for Dwight is if it allow us to keep more of our assets. And that is still a possibility.
Pardon me. I meant keep or collect. The only way we sign and trade for Dwight is if it allows us to keep or collect more assets and gives us greater TRADE FLEXIBILITY going forward than signing him outright does.
A glut of point guards in free agency. Mavs: * Won't deal until after CP3 & Howard are off the market. * Rights to Petteri Koponon & cap room - 25yr PG, 2007 30th pick, rookie scale contract Magic: * Youth movement, rumored to have interest in Bledsoe. * The unguaranteed total of Hedo & Harrington is about 9 million. They're collecting DNPs anyway... Plus that amount needs to be spent to meet minimum payroll. Utah: * If they join the youth movement, they'll need more salary. Kings: * New owner is Indian & had minor stake in the Warriors. If he's feeling the Pan-Asian love... All in all, it's looking bleak on the Rockets ability to move Lin. Hopefully, they'll be able to keep Asik, D-Mo, and Jones in their quest for Howard.

Looking at a lineup with GSmith as our starting pf just makes me sad...lol
Cisco said he'll come back to the Rockets on a discount, but there's no way he's taking the minimum. Some team will offer him at least the low end exception for ~$2mil/yr. So realistically, we'll only have our 2nd round pick as a backup wing player unless Howard allow us to sign him at a slight discount. Or we may trade Greg Smith and keep James Anderson. And Greg Smith will not start at PF. It's either the twin towers or either Jones/DMo. I'm guessing Jones/DMo, whoever works harder in the offseason and look better in camp.
Remember, the Rockets will still have access to the Room Exception ($2.652 million) to use even after they've been capped out. It's entirely possible that the Rockets would use the Room Exception to sign Garcia to a new two-year deal. I doubt Cisco will get many offers that are significantly better than that. I also wouldn't completely rule out being able to bring him back for the veteran's minimum ($1,265,977).
David Locke thinks SFs will get paid, overpaid this free agency. SF is the position with the least available talent but also a need for many teams.
You're right. I remember checking and found that all the exceptions don't work for teams under the cap at beginning of FA. But not sure how I missed this. But even so, I feel Morey is much more likely to split it among different players. Otherwise the Rockets are too susceptible to injuries for this season. Next year, when the Rockets have more draft picks and the full MLE is where I see them trying to add a significant player.
