Man luck is on my side this year with the DR. I came home at lunch and had to stop by my local Kroger at Shepherd and 11th St in The Heights. For the hell of it I decided to walk by the beer aisle and to my surprise saw a worker standing there with 3 cases of DR and nobody around him. He handed me a six pack and I was on my way. I also may be going to the Saucer tomorrow night. I'm sure it's going to be packed. Even on a normal week it's tough to get a table after 6 PM.
Supposedly Whole Foods @ Kirby just received 8 cases. They might be list-reserved so call ahead for availability.
Thanks for the heads up. I picked up a couple of bottles. Still looking for a 6er though. FYI, they have the DR #6 on tap.
Just got back from whole foods (Austin) downtown and they have/had six packs. I just left about 10 minutes ago, fyi.
for reals! w.f. is about 12 minutes from my house so i am literally dropping everything i am doing and heading over there right now! now ill have some to let sit for awhile - i heard last year it was better after a month or so.
When I went I asked someone in the department about it and they said that they were stashing it in the back. She went back and grabbed me a six pack. They're only selling one six pack person.
i got there at 8:30 - they have it in back so you have to ask someone who works there, but they will get it for you. they got 10 cases and are allowing 1 six pack per customer. its only $13.49 - earlier i bought 2 bottles at the whip-in for $8, but oh well. just popped one open and my first impression is that its better than the #9.
I popped open one of my Whip In bottles and it's ok. I'm not terribly impressed. Maybe I'll go get a 6er tomorrow at lunch to have some to age. FYI, Whip In has some of the older DRs that they release on occasion. The owner said he was going to release some #3 after Thanksgiving and as I mentioned earlier that they have #6 on tap.
I talked with the manager of the Spec's off Airport. He looked at their computer inventory throughout the city (Austin)...and pointed me towards the Spec's at Southpark Meadows. They set aside two 6'ers for me. When I got there I was told there was a one 6'er limit. No worries...point being they have them, but you have to ask...not in the coolers. Also, appears the price was bit more expensive than ya'll were discussing at WF...ran me over $18.
anchor christmas ale is out - im thinking this might be my all time favorite beer ever! so delicious!
