Someone sounds a little nervous about today's events. Harder to spin the truth in your favor now?? :)

People like you still can't accept that this war NEVER had weapons of mass destruction at the heart of its cause. This war is about altering the political environment in the middle east so that in 20 or 30 years, it will no longer be a breeding ground for fundamentalist terrorists. With that said, you just may get your WMD's now that the head guy is in custody and then you'll be searching for some other garbage to tear the president down on. Can't we get past the political party nonsense we have to deal with in America. It's getting worse and worse every president. Soon it will get to the point where the president can't even act because everything he does will have the figure heads of the opposing party falling down try to put a negative spin on it. It's absolutely disgusting.

Saddam's capture will allow an even worse terrorist regime to stay in power for another four years, since the gullible majority of Americans will believe that all the world's problems are now solved, and Bush is the reason why.

I got the master plan right here:

Give Sadaam life in prison, and then let tv companies have bidding wars over the rights to air him in his jail cell. You have that tv station filming 24 hours a day, so anytime we feel bored, we can check in on Sadaam. :D Now, there could be some graphic programming, especially if he's anywhere near big Bubba's cell, so the program would probably carry a high "viewer descretion". All the money from the bidding war should, of course, go towards rebuilding Iraq. This way, Sadaam would actually be helping his *former* country out.

And of course if the ratings aren't as good as planned, just go ahead and execute him.

    :p

I wonder if Saddam has gotten Johnnie Cochran on the phone yet?

Can you say, "trial of the '21st' century..."

Glynch, and the rest of you that can't see this as a great victory need to go back into your closet and go away.

It will always amaze me when people cannot see past their political skews.

An old adage that y'all may want to ponder....

If you're under the age of 25 and are not a Democrat, you have no heart.
If you're over the age of 35 and are not a Republican, you have no brain.

Either way this is a great day for Democrats, Republicans, Americans, Iraqis, and the rest of the world.

Yeah, this is going to be a media frenzy. And security had better be tight, tight, tight if Saddam is going to make it to the end of the trial. It's easy for Americans to celebrate that the man has been captured, but there is no way we want justice with the kind of passion the Iraqi people want justice. I mean who in Iraq doesn't want a piece of this guy? The terrorists want him dead so that he can't talk. There will be Iraqi's worried that Saddam might cut a deal with the US for information and some of these people might try to assassinate the man before he can cut a deal to save his life. Not many friends in the world when you are Saddam Hussein minus the absolute power.

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - Large explosions rocked central Baghdad Sunday evening and flames and thick smoke rose from the area, just hours after U.S. officials announced the capture of Saddam Hussein. A policeman said there were no casualties.

Shortly afterward, bursts of gunfire rang out from the area. The explosions occurred at 8:20 p.m. local time in the central Baghdad area of Karadah.

A policeman said a white four-wheel drive vehicle had exploded on Saadoun street, a busy thoroughfare, after two men jumped from the vehicle and fled the scene.

Two fire trucks arrived a few minutes later and started putting out the blaze.

your point? no one thinks that his capture automatically ends the violence.

My point is they trusted a corrupt Iraqi regime more than our govt! There's not WMD they all said in a great whiney chorus. Of course you never know about libs. That whole fairness thing, why should we have the bomb and Iraqis not as well might play into a liberal willingness to allow WMD to spread like wildfire throughout the world. Only a true-blue lib can see this as a defeat, only because it makes Bush look good. Never mind it helps our country. If it hurts Bush, no matter what the cost, it is good, according to most liberals out there. Listen to Dean and Kerry and all you hear is how horrible the admin is, weaving a symphony of doom and gloom. Dreadful.

As a note - Dean's press release was pretty congratulatory (though it called for an American pullout and hand over to Iraqis ASAP, which you may want to spin as doom and gloom). Gen. Clark on MSNBC was happy, too - congratulated the troops and all. I don't know about the rest, but I seriously doubt they'll take this as a chance to bash the President. Maybe the future direction of the occupation, but not the actual capture. They're two separate issues.

This is a great day for everyone, and I will not say anything further because I'm looking at this from a non-political standpoint at the moment.

This is great news today. The tyrant is gone. It was neat to see the Iraqis reactions this morning. I finally forced myself to sleep around 7am.

This is great news for the Iraqi people, and our troops. (raise in moral)
