well, i'm not a religious guy, but "God" is non-denominational. Could be the God of the Jews, Christians, or Muslims. I think most theologians (I'll ask my wife, she's got a PHD in religion, agree that Muslim's, Jews, and Christians all worship the same "God", the god of Abraham. they disagree on how to worship him, but it's the same (holy) dude. last thought about the "other" blog. it wasn't some extreme left wing crazy nut site TJ was referring to. it's the official blog of the presumptive democratic nominee. the democratic candidate, on his official blog, has posters agitating for the murder of US Soldiers, just so their man can get elected. it's a pretty loose ship over there.
Well, it apparently didn't make YOU think, TJ. I'm sure you consider Dean a radical communist, but in the real world, he's not too far left of center. Hussein and bin Laden would probably vote for a true fringe candidate like Buchanan, as he's really into that same one culture/one religion vibe as they are.
I'm glad this scumbag is behind bars, and Americans should celebrate bringing this scoundrel to justice. But really, if we're honest with ourselves, we know this guy was never a threat to us. His capture is a wonderful symbolic gesture and represents a major victory in the Iraqi war but, in actuality, it represents very little in the so-called war on "terror." Do you feel any safer now that Saddam "Hole in the Ground" Hussein has been captured? Hell, he didn't even have a razor to shave with. The crazy cat lady down the road was a bigger threat to me than Saddam.
Laughable and truly uninformed. Saddam was a threat to the entire world. He possessed weapons of mass destruction -- heck he even used them on the Kurds and the Iranians. After he kicked the UN inspectors out of the country (despite their presence being mandated by the terms of surrender of the Gulf War), we posed the very reasonable question of "where are your WMD?" to Saddam? Saddam failed to account for the WMD that the UN determined that he possessed. We took action. Very simple and logical. Saddam paid Palestinians to detonate suicide bombs in Israel. He killed and tortured thousands. He created instability in the region and this directly impacted our well being. If you can not acknowledge this, it is because of your own obstinance and blind following of the negative propaganda campaign being spewed forth from the liberals. You are simply making *yourself* look uninformed.
Which weapons are you talking about -- the ones that don't exist or the ones we can't find? Look, the world is a better place with Saddam behind bars. But he was not a threat to us.
uh, look, I don't know how I can make this any clearer. 1. The UN weapons inspectors provided a list of WMD which *existed* in Iraq. 2. Saddam failed to account for the whereabout of these *known* WMD. He kicked the inspectors out. We demanded to know where the unaccounted for WMD were. He did not answer the question. Unacceptable. 3. While you seem to accept his answer, the rest of us do not It's like you have completely ignored the past 10 years of US-Iraq relations if I have to spoonfeed you this. It is small wonder that the libers have *zero* credibility on the topic of foreign relations. Your argument is representative of the lunatic fringers who still think we went in there for oil. Ignore the proof, believe what you want.
Isn't it time to transfer this thread to the debate and discussion forum? I'm afraid to post more as I might upset some of the gentle souls of the hangut forum.
It's a nice regurgitation of the party line, to be sure. You have been well trained by the Emporer, Darth_Jorge. The spin is strong in you. But tell us honestly that you were afraid of Saddam attacking American soil. Tell us how you lost sleep as you contemplated his 15-foot balsa wood gliders crossing the Atlantic ocean, slowly delivering their thimbles of anthrax to the watery depths-- uh, I mean, Washington D.C. Perhaps it was more irrational and personal. Perhaps, his prodigious mustache threatens the average American metrosexual in untold hirsuit ways. EXPLAIN YOUR PERSONAL FEAR OF SADDAM.
I know this is aimed at T_J, and no, I don't agree with every spurt of knowledge he claims to possess (in fact he even annoys the other "conservatives" sometimes, at least ME)... But my reponse would simply be this. According to reports, Saddam and his sons had at least $50 Million (known) in US currency when he and his sons escaped, after we attacked. How much did he have access to over the years??? If this was found to be true, which at least in part it was (he still had $750,000 on him at capture)... then who's to say he didn't fund terrorism? It's proven that he killed his own people -ruling by fear = terror... And the US was / is his enemy too, well it just figures that he would help foot the bill to destroy the US through the same means that he ruled = terror. So... SADDAM has MONEY = MONEY pays for TERRORISTS = TERRORISTS attacked US SOIL already = (though some of your algebra skills out there may not be up to this) SADDAM funded at least some form of TERRORIST ORGANIZATIONS to be sure. So if you eliminate SADDAM, you eliminate at least ONE TERRORIST supporter. Sure, it's just one, but one less terrorist supporter is better than none less. And that's just a simple explanation for anyone to UNDERSTAND. TERRORISTS - SADDAM & HIS MONEY = POORER TERRORISTS = Better sleep.
I find it ironic that Dirt stared this thread and will ultimately be ending with Saddam taking a dirt nap. Good Night a-hole.
If this was found to be true, which at least in part it was (he still had $750,000 on him at capture)... then who's to say he didn't fund terrorism? This sounds like Bush's arguments to start the war. Anything is possible. Sadam is an evil madman. Therefore, why not be afraid? Fear, is often irrational.
They trusted the intel that everyone else did, until it was proven to be wrong. It's not that they trusted Saddam more, though in the case of WMD, perhaps in the end it was a draw. Saddam lied early on, and the U.S. lied later. Of course there still are no WMD in Iraq. Who said getting Saddam was a defeat? The only thing close to a defeat is what the Bush administration did to the truth, and the American way in order to get this war.
Then why didn't Saddam kick the inspectors out? Why did Saddam try to disrupt the inspection process? Why couldn't he account for the WMD on the UN list? I find your blind faith in Saddam's answers very disturbing. No wonder the liberals foreign policy stance is a total joke.
woo hoo Saddam is gone and this thread is back in D& D. Anyway, since we GOT SADDAM, and he is no longer a threat, we should abolish the right to own guns in the country. seriously, if there is no more threat from Saddam (THE SADDAM THAT WE GOT) then we don't need guns! wow, im so glad that we GOT SADDAM because now i can start leaving my door unlocked, again. man it was tough having that evil dictator around! Ill still leave my windows locked, though, because we haven't got Bin Laden yet.
dang no edit. That should read: Then why *did* Saddam kick the inspectors out and the liberals, led by Bill Clinton, accept his decision as just?
