WOW. Just when you thought Vivek had learned his lesson and Divac had him rebuilding properly, Kings decide to max out a 3rd banana type because... POTENTIAL!

Man, I was starting to like the Kings youth movement with Hield, Fox, and Collins with Bogdanovic and Papagiannis in the stash.

okay, they need a lockout. not because contracts are out of control (the players only get so much no matter what) or to fix the league. just to add a rule that says otto porter can't have a max contract. that's it. just that rule. resume season.

get capped out, win about 45 games for 2 years, then blow it up.

man, this is crazy. these are the kind of contracts where even foresight is 20/20. I get the idea that Washington can't lose him for nothing, and I suppose it really doesn't matter because wall and beal aren't winning you a title anyway so why not squeeze whatever you can out of this era while the warriors (and cavs) are great, but the otto porters of the world are the kind of guys morey finds for nothing, either playing in Russia or trading a late first round pick or giving a sub-MLE contract to. and that other good GM's find for nothing. not give max contracts to.

a max contract to otto porter! what kind of lucky guy is this? even in a calmed down offseason, he gets massively overpaid. guys like Beverley and ariza get small contracts because the market doesn't value them, someone like porter happens to be chased by a desperate team that knows they have to overpay because otto is already on a desperate team that has to match. I suppose it's just 2 teams with no hope throwing their money away, but it still seems ridiculous.

if you have steph curry and kevin Durant, you can pay otto porter the max to keep him on the team. even in a world without the warriors, you have to have an unbelievable 1-2 combo to pay otto this much as the 3rd guy, and even then only if you already have the core of the team set and have no hopes for cap space in the future. Washington will be regretting this 5 seconds after they sign this and will be looking to move him next offseason when perennially disgruntled wall is complaining about the team.

Indeed he did. John Wall knows Otto Porter's worth and limitations.

God bless you little boy, your struggles seem to be very real and I'd bet a hardship on your parents.

Not if Washington matches, which they almost certainly will.
