That would be irony since the last place the Kings played was Kansas City.

    Stealing back their team from a city in California. Nice!

    As a sacramento resident it is very disturbing to see the maloofs act in this manner. The whole city is pissed including the people that used to defend the maloofs. I think in the end sacramento has an arena plan in place that is a fair, so in essence I don't see the NBA granting the maloofs the right to relocate.

    My question is why the hell did KC built an arena when they have no NHL or NBA team to play there. Who the hell do they think they are San Antonio?

    Well thats what we did here in Winnipeg... we built a new arena and got the jets some years later
    - its to entice the nhl/nba to see them as a legitamate spot

    I agree. The Maloofs thought they could bluff their way out of investing as much as originally agreed and think they can get away with it. The NBA would have a PR disaster if they granted the Kings the right to move after all the hard work Sacramento did.

    Stern hasn't yet had the stones to pressure an owner to sell, and given how badly the league ownership of the Hornets went, I don't see that happening.

    The one hope is, the Lakers and Clipper are fighting hard against the Anaheim move.

    Would the Kings consider moving to Seattle? They lack a history, and Gary Payton needs a team.

    @Sam_Amick:

    NBA Commissioner David Stern weighs in on Sacramento situation with very interesting take. When asked if there's a scenario in which the team could still stay, & also asked whether the Board of Governors would support a move to Anaheim currently, he said, "If there was a vote now, there would be no support for a move. And I believe the ownership says they’re planning to stay there. On other situations, I might hazard a guess or a prognostication. On this one, I’m out of the business - for now."

Stern says owners wouldn't approve move of Kings to Anaheim if such was on table and Kings owners plan on staying in Sacramento.
— Marc J. They want the team in Vegas or Southern California. It's all about TV deals and attracting super star free agents.

    Will SoCal become diluted though? Can they really support three basketball teams, a football team (or two), and two baseball teams? I think they're better off pulling an OKC and trying to be the only show in town in a smaller city.

    As for free agents, if they build a good enough team- they shouldn't have a problem. A guy may not want to sign in Kansas City or Milwuakee like he would in New York, but he will if he can play with other superstars and his AAU buddies.

    It's weird how this dynamic has changed -- the Maloofs were one of the more beloved owners in the NBA with a first class group of fans/supporters and a very good team. Now, they are amongst the worst owners in the league losing fan support by season with a mediocre NBA team/franchise.
