That being said, if Gordon nets us a real star, I don't think we will miss him that much. His defense has been putrid this year, and I think Golden State would expose that quickly. If we can get another two-way guy, it may be an improvement. I don't know who that guy would be though. Not Rodney Hood.

I would trade him for a star for sure, but his defense has not been putrid at all. He has actually played better defense than last year by a mile. Looks healthier,quicker,faster.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have acquired Rodney Hood and George Hill in a three-way deal with the Utah Jazz and Sacramento Kings, league sources told ESPN on Thursday.

The Cavaliers will send Iman Shumpert and a 2020 second-round pick via the Miami Heat to the Kings in the deal.

Sacramento acquires Joe Johnson from Utah, who gets Jae Crowder and Derrick Rose from Cleveland, sources said.

Derrick Rose, the horrible Isaiah Thomas, Frye(maybe the only just decent player), Crowder and a pick gets you George Hill, Larry Nance JR, Clarkson, and Rodney Hood with a trade exception and two roster spots for buyout center candidates the Rockets will also be looking at.

The Cavs were able to due the deal with the Lakers because the Cavs had something the Lakers wanted more something than players that were junk.
What the Lakers wanted is cap space and first round picks.

All three of the players the Cavs traded (Derrick Rose, Isaiah Thomas and Channing Frye) had expiring contracts and will be free agents.
And yes, both Trevor Ariza and Eric Gordan are better than anything the Cavs traded to the Lakers, but Ariza and Gordan are not expiring contracts.
But the Lakers don't want Ariza and Gordan.
The Lakers want to clear a ton of cap space to recruit free agents like Lebron James and Paul George.

Now, if Ryan Anderson was an expiring contract, the possibilities are endless.
