DD, as I understand it, the first step of a SNT is to sign boozer. that require cleveland to clear at least 8-9 mil cap first, and we only have a 7 mil exception. so we alone can't make them under the cap enuf to resign boozer. as of now, cleveland's best option seems to be trade big Z for some quality PF and C's, instead of give away their valuable pieces in order to resign boozer -- and then trade him for MoT.
It's NOT possible because Clutch said so! P.S. Clutch, can I get a wink wink deal for the contributed membership status?
1st. TE alone won't give Cavs enough cap room to match the offer. 2nd. Even if that works, it ends up with MoT for Battie and Boozer since the TE will be used to match Utah's offer. MoT's bad contract for Battie and Boozer is a lot worse than let Boozer go for nothing. 3rd. Once Cavs matches offer and decide to trade him, they could get quite a lot in return from other teams. 4th. Unfortunately, Even Bobcats wouldn't take MoT for Nothing. Need more reasons?
Sorry Junior....Game stuff is different than Trade stuff. I hearby reserve the right to blast you at any time. In a professional, having fun sort of way, of course. DD
I think Boozer wants to score and be a star. I think we have enough with Yao and Mcgrady. Boozer wants to be THE MAN. I don't think he'd enjoy being the 3rd option
The funny thing about this BBS is that the attitude has completely changed. It used to be about Rocket fans throwing out ideas, and having an intelligent discourse. Now it seems to be a "mine is bigger than yours" contest. I asked a simple question, and if it were possible. A simple answer as to why it would not be possible would suffice. Instead, people act like spoiled children. Man.....what happened? DD
According to NIKEstrad, it can't be done. Apparently, by signing the offer sheet with Utah, all Cleveland can then do is match the offer themselves to retain, but not trade...so, if NIKEstrad is to be believed, it is impossible.
Now that is the funniest thing I have read on here in weeks..WELL DONE !! Sheesh is always meant with a winky. DD
If Boozer signs the offer sheet, there can be no sign and trade deal. If I remember correctly from the Mark Jackson stuff a few years back, if Cleveland matches then they cannot trade Boozer until next season. You cannot match n' trade. If Cleveland had the ability to match the offer outright, they could use the threat of matching to force Boozer into a sign n' trade.
DaDa, Ddi you get the answer you were looking for? Just in case: For Cleveland to sign and trade him to us, they would need to sign him. So you propose that we send them the TE for us to re-sign him. The trouble with that is: A) They would still need a couple of million to match the Boozer contract. B) If they got enough under the cap to match it, then why sign and TRADE him? Why not do one of the following: - Sign him and keep him. Maybe trade him in December. - Sign and trade him to another team? We're not going to take a verbal agreement that they'll sign and trade him to US!! We know what happened with the last verbal agreement Now, assuming he's burned his bridges in Cleveland, the best way for Cleveland to go is trade him to a team that can offer better options immediately, or later for a team that will give them significant core players. So it's possible, but highly highly unlikely. ut the same could have been said about T-Mac after the season ended.
Cleveland matching? Simple. 1st they'd have to get the Rox to trade the TE (Battie/Ollie -- does it work? could be finagled, probably). 2nd they'd have to trade Ziggy to a team with plenty of cap room for 'something', an asset -- SnT's for Rebaca and Pryzbilla? Then they'd have the cap room, but -- what would their roster look like. 3rd -- they're required to retain him until what, 100 days? Something in the future.
If I understand correctly, DsDakota is offering the trade exception for Battie in order for the Cavs to get under the cap enough to match Utah's offer to Boozer, but they can't then do the S&T because the transaction has already taken place(when he signed with Utah). Is that the jist of it? Any S&T would have to be done with UTAH, which I don'yt think can be done for a free agent. Therefore, there is absolutely no scenario that the Rox could make any transaction with the Cavs that would net them Boozer. If I understand it right, that is why it is impossible, and not just improbable.
