THAT is some sound advice.

Generally you're going to keep feeling hurt, angry, and sorry for yourself until you rise above it and be the bigger person.

In all my busted relationships I haven't felt total peace of mind until I've been able to either apologize for hurting them or forgive them for hurting me.

 

I agree, according to my own personal pastor, you should forgive them for you not for them. that is how you leave it all in the past. by not forgiving them you stay stuck with the pain.

By the way my personal pastor is none other than Joel Osteen. I feel like he is speaking only to me (i have his book on cd).

thats some intense crap considering the time and your situation with kids/wife and all.

 

Ugh!! I did that. That was what a couple of therapists told me to do.

I remember the first time I started it. I started writing a journal talking about all the crappy feelings I had.

After a few weeks of writing, I took the journal to the therapist and...

Me: "Okay, here it is."
Her: "I'm not going to read it. It's not for me to read."
Me: "Huh?"
her: "This journal is for you to express your feelings."
Me: "Express them to who? Who is going to read this?"
her: "You can read it if you want to reflect on your feelings."
Me: "What?!?! Reflect on my feelings?!? As if my daily pain wasn't enough, I can go back and read about yesterday's, pain, too? I don't want to read this crap."
her: "Didn't you feel relieved when you wrote it? Like you were getting that off your chest?"
Me: "No! It was agonizing and depressing to write. It did not change how I feel at all (nor do I see how it can), and it's just stupid to do so much writing in something that nobody will ever read."

That was the end of me writing a journal.

 

Hurt. Not regret. I didn't do anything wrong. I just completely loved her.

And believe me, I spent a long time analyzing it, asking myself, "what did I do wrong?" and blaming myself. But really, I just didn't do anything wrong.

Her feelings drifted away from me, but she never communicated that to me. It was "I love you with all my heart" until the day she dumped me.
