I’d like to see Padgett be replaced with a player in which we can’ develop and feels a need. The 14th or 15th player won’t likely ever play so rather see some young guy with a upside rather than someone a journeyman. Players who caught my eye are players like Denham Brown, Justin Williams, Ndudi Ebi, and Jawad Williams. Besides Padgett is to similar to Novak anyways.
What is the deadline for filing a petition to get salary cap releif of a career ending injuring? Me thinks that one is later than 10/30 at 6pm ...which would explain why Sura didn't get cut today.
DD: Don't you remember that someone in the know , about a few months ago stated that it was to the club's advantage for this not to be finalized till after the seasons start. I understood that the team can get better compensation if he is the declaired dfunct as an active player, during that period.
Praise god! Bowen's gone!!!!! It must've broken JVG's heart to cut Bowen. I don't get why he loved him so much.
See my above post. After the season starts and if Sura is still unable to play, the Rockets can get salary cap releif from the NBA. If we simply cut Sura, the Rockets can't request salary cap releif.
CD/JVG/M all used their heads to make the right decission. I hope that we still might make a couple of deals, during the season, before the deadline. All the very best Ryan Bowen, enjoy the rest of your life!
but what this team needs is shooters, with the win now mentality theres no point for us picking guys with potential, id take scotty over these young cats any day! ps scotty hustled his ass and was consistent with his threes, he deserves to stay and i think would make solid contributions coming off the bench by making those 3s and grabbing those boards.
ok, serious question. how does a guy like Rybo stay in the league as long as he has? the guy can't shoot, can't rebound, can't dribble. and come on, his defense isn't really that great. there's only so much you can do with hustle. but, if you ain't got the skills, it doesn't matter.
Padgett won't ever be active unless injuries. Even if he is active, he is behind Yao, Deke, Chuck, Juwan, Novak, and Battier on the depth chart.
Where did all the fans here get so convinced that Sura would never play again? There has never been a single report that actually said Sura would not play again. I repeat there has NEVER EVER been ANY report from anyone in the know that he was not playing again. Let's remove some myths that people keep bringing up on this forum. MYTH 1. "The Rockets simply want to keep Sura so they can trade his contract." FACT: The Rockets can NEVER trade Sura under league rules. It is impossible under league rules to trade him because of his knee. Also a team can not simply waive the physical nor can a team just say he passed. Reason being the Rockets decleared and had him looked over for insurance reasons if he could not play. Therefore he CANNOT be traded because if so the Rockets could get compensated twice which is illegal under the league rules. There will be NO TRADE of Sura and his contract is worth nothing other than costing money. Therefore you would only pay him if you thought he would play. MYTH 2: "The Rockets will just wait until December 15th so they can get a injured player exception." FACT: "The reality is the Rockets ALREADY had Sura looked over for insurance reasons. It was stated very clearly by CD and JVG that if Sura could not play he WAS ALREADY covered by insurance and they could already give his roster spot to someone else by the last cuts if he did not make it back and that in fact he WOULD BE CUT BEFORE Novemver 1st if he would not be able to play at any point this year. So why would they wait until December 15th when that contract is useless? It makes absolutely zero sense at all. They will either cut Sura BEFORE the season or he is playing. These other scenarios just make no sense whatever. If Sura could not play this year, he would have surely been cut just now along with Bowen and Jacobsen. The only actual legit reason to keep Sura is if he will play, it is simply imagination of fans that he would be kept for any other reason. So right now the boards 90 percent assuredness Sura would never play again is looking lie doom and gloom. At the worst the odds have to be 50/50 right now.
According to JVG Sura would already get thye team that exception as early as June of this year, the ONLY holdup would be the Rockets actually stating to the league he would not play again. For some odd reason this whole forum has been convinced that Sura was done even though every report said at worst it was 30 percent he "might not be able to play again."
Rybo gone? The rebuilding has begun All joking aside, I have to at least applaud him for his effort and hustle. He really had no basketball skills whatsoever, but was able to stay in the league long enough on drive alone, which is more than I can say for some more talented players who half-ass it for a paycheck and could care less about the game.
Sura will probably never play another game in the NBA. How many 33 year old players have returned to the NBA (and been productive) after missing an entire season with back and knee problems? It's just a matter of time. Who knows, maybe the Rockets keep him on the 15 man roster the whole season. I doubt it.
Get off your high horse, dude. Wow, you've narrowed it down to 50/50? Good job...you're way more informed based on a lack of information. You're making assumptions as much as anyone in thinking that he's at 50/50 without monitoring his rehab progress, so just wait and see..
