Good Bye Rybo We will miss you... Well not really but it sounded pretty good... Bobby Boy is still around!!
Why they mentioned Steve Novak? I think he has guaranteed contract, dont u think the name they mentioned should be Scott?
I thought Rybo had a 5 year 55 mil extension he just signed last April. Man how things can change in 6 months.
That means the Rockets feel that it's premature to take advantage of Sura's retirement at this moment.
I am the opposite, I really expected Jacobsen to stay on team, but I am happy there is hope in Bob Sura. I hope Sura comes back to his 04 form that would bring Rockets AMAZING help .
great news. Don't know if sura will be back or not, but this set up for protential trade or sign via free-agent in december for sure.
I'd like to observe a moment of silence for Flyin' Ryan. Even though many people here think he sucks, I will always remember the admirable job he did did starting in Juwan Howard's place in the playoffs against Dallas and how he helped humble Dirk Nowitzki through the first 4 or so games. Good job, Ryan.
Yeah I dunno if Sura will ever play again. But maybe he can be ready to go late into the season and in the playoffs. I would rather have Sura who might play 10-20 games max, then Rybo who would have been with us all season.
It was either Rybo or Padgett...and Padgett has hustled his butt off and been consistent with his 3's. I was pretty certain that Rybo and Jacobsen would be cut. I was impressed with Jacobsen's decision making and hustle in the preseason though. He played hard, but his 3pt shot was off. That's too bad. I think if he shot lights out, it could have been different, but oh well. Theses guys aren't going to play much anyways.
Sura isn't a very attractive trading piece right now. If he were traded and retired soon afterwards the other team would have to go through the one year waiting period., ie potentially taking up cap space over two seasons. IMO they're banking on Sura to play. Even if he retires, ie makes cap space, there's hardly any decent options with the 4.2Mil TE.
Regarding Sura, DON'T GET EXCITED. We can't simply cut him if we hope to get salary cap releif once it has been medically determined that he cannot ever play ball again. We will petition the NBA for cap releif very soon. If we simply cut Sura, that petition wouldn't be valid. Since today was the deadline for finalizing the 15-man roster, Sura's medical exemption obviously didn't go through yet. So the league forced us to cut two ADDITIONAL players. This is probably why JVG previously said we will have a 14 man roster because he knew Sura's medical expemption wouldn't come in time for the final roster deadline of 15 players.
