Once Colston went down VY was by far the best offensive rookie. Mad props to him for bringing that back home.
For a team that is trying to re-tool by building it's defense, this is awesome. And Mario is no slouch either. Another year or two of drafts and free agents, and look out!
It's official. #59 will be my next jersey since the only two I have now are #8 and #55 (which I haven't worn in two seasons).
Ryans may turn out to be the best individual pick we've made. But there is no way you can say it's the best draft we had. Not with the colossal blunder of the #1 pick.
I'm kind of partial to the one were we traded a 2nd and 3rd round pick for Buchanon. That was a pretty sweet deal.
They're talking about our best drafts, not the drafts we made better for other teams. However if I remember correctly, the Raiders didn't do much better with those 2 picks than we would have!
in terms of quantifiable numbers, the kid from jacksonville was by far the best offensive rookie. it's only a blunder if MW busts; there's no evidence whatsoever to suggest he's not going to get better. they guy had a solid, if injury-plagued year. vy exploits are irrelevant.
Like I said before... Demeco, if you're reading this, I want you to know you're THE MAN . Who gives a sh*t, man... seriously... are you rooting for him? There's already a bajillion threads to go erect buildings for him... use those. Jeez, man, why don't ya'll understand...
Oh yea i forgot about Maurice Drew. I'll give VY more credit since he had less talent around him though.
He deserves it. I was looking at some 2005 mock drafts, and some had him going in the late first round. I'm glad he stuck around til the 2nd round. You have good players on the line, some good linebackers, and a good corner. now we just need a some safetys.
Don't waste your time Swoly. Do you honestly think that any of those people will EVER stop? Just ignore them. This is a thread meant to celebrate something that the Texans did right. Demeco, you're the man.
It's already been proven to be a blunder. If you can't see that you're in denial. How many people around the NFL have to say "what were the Texans thinking?" and how much more production do you need to see from VY and Bush before you admit the truth to yourself? MW may turn out to be a good player, but definitely not #1 overall good. The Texans wanted Bush. If they didn't want him they wouldn't have been negotiating a contract with him just a couple of days before the draft. Bush's camp played hardball with the Texans at the negotiating table and the Texans ran to Williams to try to stick it to Bush. The Texans cut off their nose to spite their face. Now this team is stuck with an average to above average defensive player and they get to watch the two guys they could have gotten become stars while our team struggles to score 20 points a game. Nice.
Do you have a link to your source? The guy is still 21...had a hurt foot...and did decent. Definitely showed flashes of brilliance. He's young, learning, and growing. Its way too early to determine his future success in the NFL.
In an average draft, he very well may be #1 material. Not so in last year's draft. Not when Reggie Bush and Vince Young are available.
