It wouldn't surprise me cause I think obrien knows Fitzpatrick is hot garbage. I believe the last qb to start with less than a week with the team was Kerry Collins in 2011 when manning was out. We all know how that first game turned out for the colts...
If Mallet is running the show by week 6 I am going to put on my lollerskates and go crash my roflcopter into the astrodome.
Id rather not have Mallett started on less than a weeks worth of practice. That sounds like a disaster. Give Fitz a chance to prove he's not horrible, maybe by week 4 give Mallett the nod once he's had more time to learn the playbook if Fitz is terrible
The Texans were doomed because they couldn't touch the Pats. The difference in coaching and scheme was amazing. The Texans were not going to beat the Pats.
Mallett needs reps with the team and learn the playbook. It's not the exact same thing he was running in NE. Fitz will get his chance, but like Fitz always does he'll have a terrible game which will give Mallett his shot. It's not happening for at least a few weeks.
No. Because it's funny that we spent an entire offseason debating the merits of Keenum vs Savage vs Fitzpatrick, and also because lots of people told me that Mallet would never be a Texan, let alone START for them.
With the soft schedule, there will be plenty of games down the road where putting him in will make more sense. Not week 1, though.
I'm not delusional. I didn't read through the thread to see what your stance is...what would you like to see happen?
I'd like to see Fitz play until there is no doubt he's not starter material and then give Mallet a shot. I do want to make sure Mallet isn't the QB of the future before the draft.
Sounds like we want the same thing, then. I think it'd be foolish to throw Mallet out there right now, but after a few weeks of practice to re-familiarize while watching Fitz flame out...put Mallet in the game so we can see what we have.
