If only he had the 8.1 y/a that Brian Hoyer had tonight.....because apparently that's the stat that matters.
Yikes, I never thought the Hoyer love would continue past the worst postseason QB performance in history.
Hoyer career rating- 82 with 6.8 y/a and 38-26 TD/INT (backup level) Mallet career rating- 66 with 5.2 y/a and 7-9 TD/INT (out of the league level) Yep, the evidence points to you being correct.
You have to be good enough to even play long enough in a playoff game to have the worst postseason QB performance in history. Mallett will never even get the chance.
No, you don't have to be good, you just have to be friends with the head coach. Hoyer's relationship with BOB is the ONLY reason he kept being thrown out there to suck week after week. He was only even serviceable against the weakest teams in the NFL and without better QB's like Weeden, Yates, and Mallett winning games, the Texans don't make the playoffs at all. Honestly Hoyer has no business being in the league as a player, he had no business in the league being a player last season either.
I'm not sure why Mallet can't average more than 6 yards per attempt. It's weird. This guy is more of a captain checkdown than David Carr, who averaged 6.4 y/a (a full yard higher than Mallet)
You are focusing on y/a but your boy Hoyer had 2 turnovers against backups in a preseason game, very likely would have been more if they had kept him in longer.....He's quite literally the worst QB in the NFL. I mean, sure, Mallett isn't a good QB, but that's never been the discussion. You lost this one a LONG time ago, just let it go.
Josh Johnson on the Ravens was 8/11 for 7.5 y/a attempt in the same game. Gonna be tough for Mallet to beat him out, especially if he forgets how to set his alarm again.
And your boy was 7/10 for 8.1 y/a.....with a fumble and a pick that was 100% his fault. he also got sacked 3 times because he still holds on to the ball too long. Honestly they should just cut him now, he has no business even being a 3rd string player.
He got his team in the end zone.....something your boy Hoyer is notoriously inept at. Mallett seems like a decent backup, Hoyer is just a wasted roster spot.
BOB had a relationship with Mallett too. Mallett had much more BOB relationship than Weeden, Yates, Keenum even Fitzpatrick combined. None of those guys HABITUALLY miss team practices and flights to the game location to sour the relationship, one miss suspiciously in immature protest, with a suspect reputation of doing that already following you. Thats as "low IQ" as anything on or off the field. Yes those are trust-killing actions, playing it off like its not would be dishonest.
For sure Mallett is immature and he absolutely has a "low IQ" but he's still a better QB than Brian Hoyer and honestly it's not even arguable. BOB went with a lesser QB due to his relationship with him and fortunately he got hurt for enough of the season for the Texans to be able to win enough games to make the playoffs.....unfortunately BOB didn't learn his lesson and he put Hoyer back in which doomed the team in the playoffs. Honestly though, it's good that both of those guys are not a problem for Houston anymore. Hoyer shouldn't be in the league at all and Mallett isn't a starting quality QB.
Is Harbaugh being mean to him? http://russellstreetreport.com/2016/08/19/camp-notes/training-camp-review/ Duds of Camp As Joe Flacco returned to the field this summer, Ravens officials and fans need him to stay there as backup quarterback Ryan Mallett left little to be desired with his performance in training camp. Mallett struggled almost daily. From his errant throws at the feet of his receivers or his passes sailing too high for them to corral, it hasn’t been pretty. His footwork has appeared sloppy and his poor decision making had yielded several interceptions for the second team defense.
Your obsession with being right about Mallet being worse than Hoyer is so weird. Ryan Mallet will never have a single NFL season as "good" as the one Hoyer just had.
LOL, it's just hilarious to see people still trying to defend Hoyer. He was the worst QB in the NFL last year but apparently some garbage time stats are enough for some to think he was "good". He was the worst QB on the Texans roster at any point last season.....but garbage time.
What's lolworthy is that you think calling him better than Mallet is defending him. I know you like to bash OBrien's "handling" of the QB situation, but OBrien managed to turn a junkpile into basically a 30 touchdown/10 interception quarterback with 4000 yards and get the team into the playoffs Of that lot, Brian Hoyer threw for better than a 2-1 ratio for touchdowns/interceptions while Mallet was upside down in the stat. He was literally better at everything, including winning the support of his coaches and his teammates. It's absolutely stunning that you continue to defend Mallet just to say you are right.
