Isn't there a report out there saying that smith vetoed a pick of Carr bc he was afraid of the possible fallout of drafting another Carr? And now we're hearing that smith vetoed mallet getting cut... Maybe smith really is a bigger decision maker than we all think.

All the more reason to fire his worthless ass.

Yeah, I went back and looked it up, he had a shoulder sprain in preseason, he was going to be out 4-6 weeks. He'd be fully healthy now.

I think preseason showed everyone that Savage was the best qb and he gets put on the shelf for the year.

Not really, Savage didn't look very good, but putting him on IR was a mistake looking back on it.....just one in a long line of mistakes.

Everything I heard about not picking Carr was pure fan speculation. Never heard anything actually implying Smith or McNair didn't want him and declared he couldn't be drafted.

The report is that Smith nixed the idea of cutting Mallett on SATURDAY, meaning BEFORE THE GAME. If correct, it meant OB wanted to go into the game with one QB. I want Mallett gone as much as anybody, but I can't fault Rick for keeping a cool head and making sure we had a backup QB in uniform on Sunday.

If true it shows that BOB is a bit of an idiot and he needed Rick Smith to jump in and save him from himself.....not exactly something that inspires confidence.

He looked OK, but performance in preseason doesn't mean Jack. Two years ago Schaub, Yates, and Keenum all looked fantastic and none were worth a damn.

Mallett is going to be cut.... Rick Smith isn't vouching for them to keep him, he was just ensuring his team had a backup QB for Sunday.

Zac Dysert probably gets promoted from the practice squad for this week.

Mallet probably has already been kicked out of the locker-room for good.... I doubt any teammate will come to his defense either. Pure trash.... and those here who backed him (or continue to back him) pretty much lost any and all credibility or what little reputation they had left.

Lance Z has repeatedly said, and reiterated again this morning, that Carr was 100% NOT on the Texans draft board. They declared him undraftable

Jeez, that's honestly just insane. How in the world can they not even consider him. What a mistake.

Just one in a long list of mistakes by this head coach and GM combo, they both need to be gone.

If Rick Smith override it for the game, I understand that. Without him we literally wouldn't have a backup QB, and if Hoyer went down the game would basically be a forfeit. I hope they cut him now though, he is immature trash.

Could you really see Morey or Lunhow say "we can't draft this guy because his brother was mediocre for us"?

i wouldn't put so much into what those media local experts are saying. they're the same ones that were jizzing, "oh my got this draft, has b.o.b prints all over it. I have Filo as the number one rated guard in the entire draft!!! great pick" still remember that.
I was rolling my eyes because I really wanted little carr.
B.O.B is the whisperer and didn't like any of those qbs. that's all on him.

    Very true.

This forum gave the draft As too.

Nix and Strong were steals and Fiedo was the next Gronk.

Point is we need a much better FO

    Yep, me too.
After last Sunday, he can take a hike - wasn't really happy watching him pout on the sidelines the week before either.
    Time to move on.
I saw somewhere Logan Thomas is on a practice squad. What I saw of him early last season I liked.
    Get er done Rick.
