The way I see it, we can be upset that BOB made the wrong move out of camp, but I think we should be thrilled that he acted to fix his mistake just over 3 quarters later. I'll let him knock out the pushups he owes us and give Mallett a chance. It's the first real hope at the QB position that the Texans have had since Schaub.

Not really. BOB said it was close. It was never a definitive decision. Agree we need a prospect, but my faith in this staff remains.
Also, I've seen some breakdowns that show he mostly did dink and dunk stuff to take advantage of the Tampa 2. YAC did most of the heavy lifting. That said, it'll be week 5 before the Titans face a real defense.
Normally, yes. I just don't think there was much separating the two. Not scared of Tennessee... Maybe it's because this is their third "legit QB prospect" in the last 8 years.
Same thing here, I was starting to get worried about him, but he did the right thing and it just shows that I shouldn't have doubted him to begin with. Perhaps I was just jaded by having to deal with Kubiak's nonsense for so long.
Watched the game. He looked good, but it was very Alex Smithish from beginning to end. Bucs are also terrible. This all gets scary if Mallet stinks it up. This guy is super talented.
I just want to say thank you to Bill O Brien for having the gonads to pull this off. We all still have PTSD from Gary's Schaubnesia where the mistakes from Sundays were always forgiven and we were forced to go down with the sinking ship before moves were made too late. If Mallett ends up sucking and we have a horrible season I am fine knowing that at least Obrien gave this a shot and didn't wait until we were 3-7 with Hoyer before making the move.
Hearing pancakes say what he said makes me believe this even more than I would.. Just praying it is for real. I don't think it was fair for Mallet to lose the job to injury last year anyways. Especially since they were so close in the preseason.
I'm in the same boat. I felt through hard knocks that Hoyer was going to get a longer leash than say 3 quarters...
He wasn't the only one. Multiple local media said the same. Truth is Bill O'Brien plays the media. Always leading them astray and never commits until he has to
I look at it similarly to how I see Daryl Morey, it's not that Morey never screws up, it's that even when he does screw up (which is rare) he fixes it pretty quickly and ends up improving the team. BOB screwed up, there's no question about that, but instead of compounding the problem by going with at "#KubiakBelivesInYou" route, he fixed it before the very first game was over. Sure it happened before the first game could be salvaged, but it happened.
Good job Bill, now its up to Mallet to deliver... Now please God keep him healthy...it would be a disaster if the team had to out of necessity go back to Hoyer...
See the thing is, Hoyer has a history of being bad. With Kubiak, People say he was stubborn but really what could he do? Schaub had a history of playing well, Kubiak was right to hope that he'd play through his bad times and get it together. It's not like we had Luck sitting behind him any ways. Schaub DESERVED the leash he was given because of a history of being a pretty good QB. Hoyer was not. Mallett is different. We have one full game to judge him on (Playing with a torn pec was silly...) so his leash should be longer. In the end I think BOB went with Hoyer because he believed in his defense to guide him through games. The problem is when that QB can't pick up blitzes it's going to put even the best of defenses in positions like we saw last week.
