Just a ridiculous decision to hire Hollins. INDEFENSIBLE. This guy is a wannabe shock jock with NO TIES to the Rockets or Houston. He should not have been in the top 20 candidates for the hire. Think about all the Rockets personalities over the years who would excel in this role. All of them cast aside for this attention seeking clown!

Thankful that it isn’t Bullard…who absolutely sucked. I’ll give this guy a chance.

Tilman probably saw him on ESPN and thought: "Wow! This guy really knows his basketball!"

It’s all about the voice and cadence. Worrell had it and we’ll see with this guy. Let’s just hope he sticks to basketball and keeps the politics out of it. Bullard was an activist who pushed his lgbtq and other political activism heavily on the viewers. Tired of that woke cr”@ and hope we just stick to basketball and the exciting young team we have.

40 years from now this guy will be retiring from the booth and our kids will be crying how much they will miss his voice even though he is "senile" and made no sense half the time.

    Meh.

UCLA guy and played for these teams:

    2006–2009 Charlotte Bobcats
    2009 Dallas Mavericks
    2009–2010 Minnesota Timberwolves
    2010–2012 Cleveland Cavaliers
    2012 Boston Celtics
    2012–2014 Los Angeles Clippers
    2014–2015 Sacramento Kings
    2015 Washington Wizards
    2015–2016 Memphis Grizzlies
    2016–2017 Herbalife Gran Canaria
    2017 Auxilium Torino

No ties to Houston but at least he never played for the Jazz or the Spurs, though that Mavericks stint raises my eyebrows. Also, since he played for Herbalife, he's probably OK with the Credit Karma Rockets.

There had to be better choices. Hell, Clutch and Bima with Batman doing sideline interviews would be a better crew.

"So Josh, we're down by 3 at the half. Do you think our pitiful defensive effort resembles a Barker play directed by Stanislavski?"

Huge difference, Bill is from Houston and legitimately loves the Rockets, loves the Astros, loves the city. His dad was the team dentist.

This is just a job for Hollins.

Our kids won't know that. They will only remember the voice.

Yep. I grew up watching Worrell and remember him doing the news at KPRC. I remember thinking it was cool when he went completely over to sports.

Hate this hire, but really it’ll come down to banter and chemistry with Ackerman which is an unknown.

But boy you couldn’t pick a less excited pick. He was an annoying player who did nothing well except fool teams into thinking because he’s tall that he has value. He was a hot head too and I always thought had very low BBIQ. And at ESPN he’s annoying as hell. If him or Al Hassan whatever his name is are on the Jump it’s a hard pass.

To me this also screams that Hollins is just using the Rockets in order to be the next Mark Jackson or JVG. I don’t buy for a second that this is a guy who gives a crap about the perspective of Houston legacy fans. I seriously think Tillman listened to a podcast with Bill Simmons and Ryan Russillo where they were complaining about Houston’s homerism, and he overcorrected and just asked ESPN’s president to send over his best and brightest… which Ryan Hollins is certainly not.

Great to see Mario and Calvin with the team. I don't like Ryan Hollins. I hope he does a decent job.

I actually think he could be good. Glad to have Ackerman full-time.

it’s a good thing I bought this Indian League Pass…I was hoping this wouldn’t be the case, but it looks like it’s gonna be another year of listening to the other team’s stream because Ryan Hollins ain’t it

maybe he surprises tho, I’ll give him a few games

So is it as simple as always setting your VPN to India? If so I might do that.
