The Rockets are not going to be an under the cap team. They need to "juggle" that Anderson 20M cap slot around to obtain the player they are targeting. And it might be shuffled a couple of times. But that 20M slot needs to stay in play.

We can use the trade exception and acquire a player for future matching purposes if that's all you're interested in. There's always teams looking to dump salary.

It isn't monopoly money, and every owner in the league makes this same choice. 70-100 million dollars wasted on a player that doesn't help your team. And because of his presence, every player we sign will cost 3x what they normally do.

You guys that are b****ing about dumping Anderson for nothing are acting like there are teams in the league that willingly spend a ton on luxury tax, and there aren't.

Scary part about doing it for expiring is that we only have until the deadline to make it work. With a guy like Bazemore coming in, we can figure out what's next for two seasons or even stand pat. With Porter, I think we have our team for the future and I think the team could beat anyone.

exceptions expire, and by dumping him we lose picks. Good luck getting a valuable player with an exception and no picks. This is Tilman's first off-season, he just spent 2 Billion on a team that was headed for a big luxury tax bill. Only player he paid above minimum so far is a superstar that had a pre-agreed deal. I spend a lot on this team, I want to see that the owner is willing to do what it takes in this small window.

Ryan Anderson isn't a valuable player, and the Kings are getting him and a 1st round pick. We could take on somebody elses scrub into that exception at the drop of a hat. Players with contracts are getting moved around like nothing. His value as an expiring contract can be replaced if we want. Maybe even with a player that may help unlike Anderson

And you don't just want to see him spend, you want to see him waste money. A late 1st round pick is not worth 80 million dollars. If that is your expectation than you are gonna think every owner in the league is cheap.

Anyone know what Charlottes deal is? They seem to be blowing it up, I would love to get Batum for Anderson. His contract is longer and more so that seems like a good trade partner to help Charlotte shed salary. I would much rather have him than Bazemore cuz of his length and play making abilities.

Batum's extra year would not be desirable for the Rockets. He is also injured a lot. I am sure the Hornets would love to move him. Bazemore would be a better fit in terms of flexibility that Morey covets.

Bring in money considerations and get it done

Anderson + Pick + Money considerations + Young player + Landry’s gift card for a bag of air

Why would anyone want Batum. His efficiency makes Melo look like Lebron.

You don't not give Ariza a 1 year, $15 million deal because you are willing to trade Anderson for Batum's crazy ass contract.
Would have just given Ariza his deal if that was a consideration.

he’s a useful player, but his contract is too atrocious for me...it’s even worse than Anderson’s IMO

The money is obviously a harder hit for longer, but Batum is an above average player at the most in-demand position in the NBA...3-D.

So yea, it'd suck to pay him that much, but at least you'd get a lot of production out of him.

batum's play at this point is no different then any of the other middle of the pack 3 and D wing players. he isn't above average. hes average at best and his durability isn't exactly reliable

If we dump him and create a very attractive trade exception, then it makes perfect sense. That's a much better solution than taking back a bad contract of a guy that may or may not help.

Trade exceptions can't drain 3's from 30 ft away though. I'd rather keep our assets to move him and hope that he plays like his pre-injury form from last year. How quickly we forget how great he looked early in the season before the injury.

The best thing with a TE is that it would extend INTO July FA next year when people might want to offload contracts to make moves.

I've given up on Anderson and his gun-shy ways. Especially if Melo is getting those minutes on this roster.

Anderson can get back to his best ever form and hes still unplayable vs GS in a 7 game series. They will simple hunt him out until they get him on Curry. Anderson's man sets the pick, we switch and they've got the mismatch that they want.

Then bench him in the playoffs. He still is a functional NBA player who has a skillset that will help us in the regular season, if anything suck up minutes. Reasonable contribution + keeping our first rounder(s) > saving money.
