Ryan Anderson can't wait to play w/ Rockets. D'Antoni excited about team.

First of all, no we haven't used all of our cap. We have 10 million left in cap room right now depending on what happens with DMO and we have Brewer on the roster. The cap is probably going to jump another $14 million next year.

On top of that we have extremely moveable contracts in Ariza and Beverly should we need to free up room.

Cap space is nice and all, but lack of cap space has not stopped the good teams from making big moves and having cap space doesn't help the bad teams all that much.

 

Excited to have him here too, looked at some highlights and he's very versatile. Several 30+ point games on not just threes, but large 2s, post plays and he has a good one legged shot. Any other year this signing would've made 90% of fans happy. Guess last year really has people down about our future. Me too, but you cannot deny Anderson is a great player and person to have on your team. High character guy!

I haven't read the entire thread, so I am not sure if this has been mentioned...
With the pending CBA coming in 2017 and the fact that an amnesty provision has been included in the last two CBAs, I would assume another will be added in 2017. The 2005 provision only allowed the salary to be excluded for salary cap purposes, but the 2011 version also allowed the salary to be excluded from the salary cap entirely.
Morey may have been willing to take the risk on this deal assuming he will be able to negate the deal if injuries become a concern.
